Sri Lanka batting first. So far nothing exciting. Good to see Sreesanth come back.
-
14 off the last over..
-
14 off the last over..
Damn solid run rate.
-
India should be slightly disappointed, they manage to remove Sri Lanka's three main batsmen for 49 runs. (Main batsmen bring Mahela, Sangakkara and Samaraweera). Yet India allowed Sri Lanka's hit and miss batsmen to rack up the remaining 300 runs. Players like Mathews, Prasanna and Paranavirata are rubbish Test match batsmen.
-
I wouldn't call anyone playing a test match rubbish.. Especially when they are scoring runs..
But look at the bright side, if they can score runs with their line up.. Our legends shouldn't have a problem..
-
Angelo 99 OUT looool run out going for his 2nd run oohh noooo
OUCH!!! Fancy coming so close to your debut ton and getting out
-
love what im seeing so far.. vijay is looking good.. sewag 3rd fastest indian to reach 6000 test runs..
-
A magnificent, chance less, hundred by Sehwag. Love watching Viru pounding the spinners all round the ground!!!
-
Don't jinxxxxxx this brahhhss VIRRRUUU!!!
Is this guy amazing or what??!!
-
25 to go......... :) ohhh yeah
-
Sehwag was simply out of this world. At times, he was toying with the bowlers.
-
i am so happy I got up early (4 a.m.) to watch day 2, it was just like watching highlights after the initial hour or so........
(yawn)......i want to get a good sleep now to wake up to watch Day 3 highlights :)
Hope Viru get past the 300.....or maybe 400
-
16 more to go boys.. or should I say 116 more.. ;D
I stayed up all night to watch it.. Now how to stay up at work.. lol
-
Sehwag, incredible.
Not much else you can say really.
-
if he plays like that for a while more and doesnt run out of partners 400 is definetly on the cards. 3 days left so will look to just bat once. sehwag for 500 anyone?! first innings score of 800+?!
-
When he's in that form, and he is caning the ball to all parts - I love watching him bat!! Apart from when he's batting like that against England of course!
-
His ball and boundary count is rediculous!
Dont really think he'll get to the magic 400, he was in a similar situation not so long ago.
-
He said he was alot more determined this time to get his double century.. since he missed out in the first match.. hopefully he keeps focus and gets the triple and than hopefully he says bye bye to Mr. Lara's record.. ;D

Score of 800+ would be good revenge for India, seeing as in the 1st Test India where flogged for 760 odd.

The previous times when Sehwag got 300+, he was out of gas come the following day and more importantly the opposition had genuinely quick bowlers to dislodge him the following day (Ntini and Sami)
Sri Lanka on the other hand have 3 very gentle medium pacers. Welegedara seemed to pick up a knock during the final session. SO the Sri Lankans may only have 2 seam bowlers. Also Murali has been pounded into the ground.
So in theory this would be Sehwag best chance of breaking Lara's record.

yeah I hope Dhoni doesn't do anything responsible......like declare
ideally it would have been better for Viru to get his triple before the days play you never know the next morning
nervous 90's?? Lol try nervous 290's
-
not such bad nerves to have. i would quite like to experience nervous 9's a bit more. those 10's are on the horizon, i see them coming for me!

Sehwag doesn't get nervous lol!!! Don't you remember Multan, in the 290's and belts a six to reach 300.
-
I hope he reaches at least 350 if not the magic 400!
-
would love it if he broke the record..... will have to tune in tomorrow morning ;D

ROFL!!!
If anyone is to beat Laras record Sehwag deserves it. And there is no better way getting there than ripping the opposition apart.
Lol 401 n.o.
-
Ok Day 3 and Sehwag is back.
-
293!!!!!!! :'(
-
FFFFF****###KKKKKK
-
record eludes Viru.... yet again
but he will eventually get it.......
None the less, a superb display of stroke making
-
disappointed Sehwag didn't reach 300, but 293 isn't too bad lol!!
Dhoni played well for his hundred. Some huges sixes as well, reminiscent of the Dhoni that started off as a blaster.
Secondly, maybe more importantly, this could be last time we see Sachin, Dravid and Laxman play a Test match together in India. Next home serie isn't until 2011 vs New Zealand!!!(BCCI is keen to put this series off, as it's close to the 2011 World Cup).
Also during that time, India only play Bangladesh in a 2 Test series in January 2010.
-
#1 ICC Test Ranking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
Well done India. I s'pose that's all you can say after a display like that.
-
Brilliant series victory for India. The batting was amazing, Sehwag is full flight is all ways a joy to watch. Dravid was back to his consistent best. Sachin was consistent, but didn't really cash in apart from the 100 no in the 1st Test. Laxman was steady, as was Yuvraj. Gambhir was excellent and confirmed himself as India's best batsman. Finally, Dhoni was brilliant, hundred at Amedabad was a great counterattacking innings and the hundred at Mumbai rubbed salt into Sri Lanka's wounds.
Bowling was pretty solid. Zaheer and Sreesanth's comeback's where superb. Only concerns where that Ishant is woefully out of form and the spinners wheren't as successful as you'd hope for at home.
Overall Sri Lanka once again proved they are all mouth and no trousers. Sangakkara talks a good game, but as a captain is clueless. Bowling was pretty awfu.
-
Bit surprised as to how Mendis didnt play that test...
Sri Lanka were poor at batting on what looked pretty much a road.
-
sri lanka are quailty, have you seen how big there country is?
and to have some increible crickets
-
2nd that.. India's batsman played AMAZINGLY this series.. Which shouldn't take anything away from SL.. Lets not forget that SL had some tough decisions that went againts them also.. Not saying that was the reason why they lost but the series could have been much different if reviews were in place..
By far SL is a really good Test Nation..
India is going to have to figure out how to recover from the legends leaving.. Replacing Sachin, Rahul and VVS isn't gona be easy..

majority of Sri Lankan cricketers have over inflated stats due to the pancakes they produce at home. Jayawardena, Sangakkara and Sameraweera all bully teams at home. Their stats outside the sub-continent are very ordinary.

There plenty of youngsters in India capable of making a name for themselves after the legends retire. Players like Raina, Rohit and Uthappa have international experience. Youngsters like Pujara, Tiwary etc are waiting in the wings.
-
Maybe Raina and Rohit.. Uthappa I doubt he will ever play a test.. Tiwary was looking awesome before his injury a year or tow ago.. But replacing Sachin and Dravid will not be easy at all.. Most of the experience the younger guys have is in India dunno how the will do travelling.. Remember the short balls in T20 World Cup...

Anyone watching todays 1 day game...lined up for a thrilling finish i think!!!
-
Viru is on top form at the moment! Didnt watch any of it but it must be an absolute road they're playing on......some big scores in India this winter
-
Yeah cant confess to bein up at 4 to see India bat but 414 in 50 overs is some score rate!! Sri lanka are giving it a good go at 179-0 off of 23 overs tho
-
Sri Lanka seem to be chasing this hefty total fairly well though. Sangakkara is hitting some huge sixes.
-
yeh raining 6's at the moment! good start has tkaen some pressure off of them and they are flowing freely at the moment
-
filth scoop for a maximum!
-
They are absolutley cruising at the moment.....should be an easy win chasing a casual 400+!
-
yeh shame Sangakkara didnt reach the three figures and see it through but certainly look like making it to the total. 800+ runs in 100 overs not a bad game!!!
-
Spoke to soon then - 3 runs short in the end. Been some good matched between these two sides so far and some excellent batting!
-

So what if the pitch is flat, you need application to score runs.
IIRC England played on this so called 'road' last year, and got one hell of a beating.
-
Wake up on the wrong side of the bed Jeet??
I was merely commenting on the amount of runs scored recently on these indian tracks - they've batted sri lanka out of the series.
And if i recall correctly, England can get a hiding anywhere in the world - not just India ;)
-
Sounds like one of those games which will go down in history. Obviously, not as good as the Australia v South Africa game a few years back, but this is well up there, not so much for the scores, but for the sheer entertainment factor. I was following it on cricinfo commentary and it was awesome reading.
