Title: Bat help needed!
Post by: Speeedy14 on April 14, 2015, 02:34:47 PM
So, I've just started playing and need a bat before the season starts. I have a budget of roughly £155 and I want that to include knocking in. I want bang for buck so I've found a few bats so far and I'd just like some recommendations please!

1. H4L Devil £145 inc Knock
2. Spartan MP 3000 £130 inc Knock
3. GN F18/E41 Oblivion  £155 inc Knock

So many bats, all see confusing!

Thank you in advanced!

EDIT: I'm yet to discover what sort of player I am I'd say my main movement is picking up the spring back stumps! ;)

But in all seriousness I'm trying to develop good technique and tend to prefer front foot playing. I'm sure I'll develop a preference as the season goes by but for now, I just want a decent all round bat that will get me started!

So:

The H4L is a very good shout, can't go wrong with them IMO - I'm sure some of the other companies on here would be able to sort you something out too though!

bats bats everywhere....

If you want some targeted advice then it might be worth 3/5 bullets about whats important to you. type of pick up, edge size etc etc.. if you have an idea about what floats your boat that might help people suggest bats that align to your spec.

Of the three H4L but several sponsors on here will offer bats knocked in for that price.
I'd be inclined to speak to either Jake @Vitas Cricket or Paul @ItsJustCricket

I've used both and had a great service from both  :)

I've edited the main post for some slight preferences.

I spoke to someone on Facebook from Vitas about the Spartan and inquired about a butterfly bat from Hunts I think that I've seen people suggest but was told it takes a season for it to be really responsive or so.

I didn't mention them on facebook but what about the B&S Assegai 3 Star for £100? We have loads all approx 2'8, here are a few examples for quality (it's a fairly old pic so some of those bats may have sold)

H4L or the B&S bats Jake has shown above will serve you very well. What about speaking to Paul from IJC about one of those low end (but very nice looking) New Balance bats?

How about pushing the boat out by another £20 and going to see Hunts County yourself and getting a custom made bat for £175

Knocking in would be more still, and the budget was £155 including knocking in. Still a great shout and if you can find that few extra quid having got one myself i can highly recommend the end result!
