I have just uploaded a few examples to the website to demonstrate the scope available when designing your own helmet.
Below are a couple of example of the design templates that were converted into an actual helmet to show you how easy it is....

Would be interesting to see what designs people can come up with!!!!
-
love the idea of emblazoning my club colours all over the helmet, shame we got such awful colours, sky blue and navy blue - cant see it working.
Oh, i also think the images have come up fantastically on the helmets, good work tom!
-
So if we design a helmet, you can make it for us?
-
mimimum orders apply i'm pretty sure - cost to set-up is probably too high to do it on an individual basis
-
Love the idea of this!!
Similar to the black and yellow, but with black and dark green (dark green club colours) instead would be excellent!
-
No he does one offs think im right in saying it costs £45 on top of the purchase price tho . . .
-
Yep correct one offs are done, no set up fees. Just add £45 to your helmet.
-
£45 is what i would regard as a small set-up fee, if i ordered 10 helmets with graphics would they all cost £45 each, or less because of the quantity?
-
The £45 covers the set-up fee for carrying out the work
Its obviously alot of hassle to have to mark out shapes etc and spray cost of more than one colour is time consuming. As they need to be done in separate layers.
-
If you ordered in bulks of 10 I'm sure the figure would come down a little, but its more the time involved in having to do each one by hand and forming templates etc if you are producing more than one of them. Also for a 2 colour design it needs two coats doing which takes longer than one coat (fairly obviously).
We have done one off though as someone ordered a copy of the Pakistan helmet featured on the facebook site as they liked the fact they would be different to everyone else when wearing it.
The graphics can also be customised with logos etc not just the paint finish if you really wanted to push the boat out.
-
Hit4Six yes that the basis of it, anything you can design we can transform into a helmet. If you look at motorcycle helmets this is probably the most extreme example with airbrush art of the back of them etc.
Providing the design is viable we can produce it for you from your graphic design off the template as above.
-
Right got a batch of shells turning up tomorrow so going to have a bit of play with a design.....what would everyone go for? thought a little brain-storming session might throw up a few idea's perhaps with the best going onto a helmet as a competition prize ;)
-
one colour - navy, matt paint.
it will be a design classic, logos/club badges can by stuck on as stickers
ok, maybe not a design classic - but would be popular in the Surrey Leagues!!
Once again, my genius for design completely missed the point, sorry Tom
-
Tom - whats the turnn around for a custom paint/spray job on the helmet, if i sent it to you on a monday would it be back by a saturday or do you have to wait on the guys doing the work for you?
I will be sending mine to you for a re-spray in a couple of weeks or so if thats ok, i'll be interested to see what designs get put forward by the forum members.......i always liked the idea of a swirly lollipop type design......but then again, i have the mental age of a toddler.
-
Dom...get it here for a monday and will be back with you by friday i would hope, depends on the complexity of the design in all honesty as the more colours the longer the drying off period etc.
-
Electric blue!!!
-
http://sweetlifeny.com/ProductImages/candy/catslglol.jpg
that would put the bowlers off for sure
-
Buzz - exactly what i had in mind.......but perhaps exchange that dark blue for an electric blue and we might be in business :)
-
Blimey thats outrageous ;) would certainly be a challenge though!
-
http://rlv.zcache.com/blue_swirl_lollipop_magnet-p147494253376466219qjy4_400.jpg - more blue :)
Not sure whether that would a) be almost impossible to do on the helmet b) look ridiculous c) cause me no amount of grief from the fielders :D
-
Taking inspiration from New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo, Flight of the Concordes, I think you should look at Brett's bike helmet design and adapt it for cricket. i.e. make a design that makes it look lik you're not even wearing a helmet, with hair and ears etc...
-

-
Johnny - perhaps a design which may prove popular amongst the more folically challenged cricketers.......perhaps you could buy a wig and stick it to an old helmet and see what it looks like before anyone takes the plunge and gets one made up.......last thing anyone would want is to look silly :)
-
Dom....are you attempting to hypnotise the fielders by going out and spinning a few times on your heels whilst they stare intothe centre of your lollipop?
Very new age spoon bending theory of you ;) will soon have the sports psychologists on board i bet!
Johnny....Afrotek a slight twist on the above! wasnt there an advert with Afro-in-a-can? that would go straight onto the shells easy!!!
-
ever since I got my helmet theres one design I have always wanted to see on these helmet: a camoflague effect, with the right shade of colours, a forest camo, or a desert camo, or a urban camo I think could look very catching on the helmet and I recon it would look great
-
I think a duck design, like a Mallard's head, with a yellow peak as the bill and green body. Almost cricket apt as well, especially for a tail ender - one for Chris Martin maybe?

like this:

I have now found this

Indeed, the dual screen option does help mask cheeky web surfing, as does launching explorer inside your Outlook task pane

-
How good would a Talisman Storm helmet look! Black lid with pink lightning
-
Came across the below website after being put in touch with the company through the people who did our 3D helmets for our website....
http://www.jlfdesigns.com/
Would people go for a truly custom sprayed helmet such as the Gorillaz type design featured on the home page for wearing playing cricket? Think it would be a real piece of art personally and unique to you. Don't think it would be cheap though!
-
I still prefer a normal helmet as I hardly wear any during batting.
