Been looking at getting one of the Master 5000s for a cheap net bat have seen a couple of topics in here from when people bought them but does any one have any reviews after using them for a bat? Are they good value for money or just typical cheap indian bats?

Honest opinion, my Master 1000 at half the price is just as nice a piece of wood, lighter and a nicer shape!
Had the first net with my master today. When I took it out of its bat sleeve my mate said "the Middle on that looks huge"
It picks up nicely and Pings well out the middle, with a nice forgiving hitting zone.

She's fairly concaved

The bat weighs 2lb9.375 (or 2lb9 & 3/8 if you prefer)
40mm edges and a 59mm spine with minimal concaving, to my mind there's a lot of wood in the right places!
I count 13 grains, on the whole they're fairly evenly spaced and straight. Considering this bat was less than £60 posted I'd say it was a bargain!
The stickers are pure class (but I love the master series) and the TON branding is the new embossed method. No sharpie (other brands of permanent marker are available) in sight :D
I was very impressed with the lovely Camouflage bat cover it came with, and the Master 1000 sticker is embossed (something not present on my 5000).

The 5000 was one of the samples Online Stockist had mate.
It may be in need of a new home soon though! ;)

I bought a Masters 7000 a few weeks ago - not played with it yet - but did some throw downs in the nets this week and it feels great (also got alot of compliments on its looks)
Mine was from cricmart, but OLS had a few of each grade on their Facebook page earlier this week. As Cam says the lower grades are a good price and if you are not in a hurry then you could take your time to pick a nice shape and grains - as the lower the grade the more variance there seems to be in both of these.

Are there any reviews from using them for something other than a bat?... Maybe a hammer or table tennis paddle?

OLS is doing a great offer on the Master 1000s 59quid posted better looking bats than cricmart had to offer when i emailed that ;)

Using it as a hammer just dented the willow and the nail stayed exactly where it started.
It was a bit too big and clumsy as a table tennis paddle, but if you could open your shoulders it sent the ball back at a considerable speed!

That's probably because I took the best one Cricmart had, you lot can fight over the ones I didn't want :D

Concaving doesn't bother me mate, I am however not an octopus so don't need all these bats, I can only use one at a time :-[

I just received my Master 2000 from Cricmart and am super impressed with their service. Received it three days after i ordered it. I looked at the 1000s but all the good ones were gone and I wasn't prepared to stretch to a more expensive bat as the budget ones are easier for me to move on to teammates.
I've had great success with 6-7 grains after a good knocking with my LV so I was happy to grab this one which is blemish free.. Its 2.87 after I've added my preferred GM Shock Absorba grip. Pickup is ok, for a bat with all that wood in the bottom. Interestingly i got the calliper out and found the left edge was 40 mm and the right 38.5 also the bat is regulation 108mm in the hitting area, but narrows to 105.7 at the tip of the handle. The pressing is ok, but it needs a good 6 hours of knocking (I'll do it in half that time).
Super impressed with cricmart.in service and communication. Chatted on FB and they were very easy to deal with. The bat cover is not cheap quality and the 2 or three extra white chevrons was a bonus.
Of course its not in the same league as my B3 Tonto Butterfly so pardon me if the pics i took include that beast which i also received this week. It might come close after my knock in, but somehow I doubt it. The master is a fuller profile than all the SS I've knocked in recently and the stamps are not sharpied. The stickers on the Master are embossed, but not textured like the B3. I think the Master is the nicest looking sticker design of all the SS/Ton atm, although I liked how VKS has customised their stickers too. All in all great value.

Sarg do you hold the your bat really high on the handle?

Yes. I tried the long handle on the Tonto, but it feels foreign even though im 6'1-6'2. What gives that away?

Was just curious, I couldn't see any advantage to it other than being a bit of a sloggers bat because of the leverage from high hands, like a t/20 bat.

Im hardly a slogger, but it just lowered the sweetspot slightly for me and moved that butterfly closer to the toe for strength against yorkers. The blade actually only 1 cm shorter now. Handle length makes it the same overall length as a regulation Short Handle. I hold the Db2 the same, it just gives my top hand more control and feels right when i take guard and bend the knees and makes the pickup a bit lighter for me. Isnt the Newbery Kudos similar? From memory CA did the the same. A Newbery Uzi or blitz are possibly more pronounced slogger bats.

I'm not trying to be smart or anything mate, it's usually guys that like to get on with it will hold the handle very high. If you held the bat lowish to normal grip you would be robbing yourself of bat with a shorter blade, I just couldn't see what advantage you got from a shorter blade.

I know and it was the quality of yours that lead me to start looking at the Masters. I saw that bat on their FB page not realising it was yours and they said Liam got that one!
I don't mind the profile is full on the one i got and the willow is nice and soft. Started tapping and rounding the edges tonight and the middle is very generous. Nice deep sound. Makes you wonder why they use such long stickers on the face as mine is pinging way past the master sticker.
I won't be able to blast away with the LV on this bat because it will no doubt crack above the bow if i give it a put any force it too early. I learnt slowly how to listen to a bat when knocking it in to know when i can start hitting harder. Thats what i love about the B3, its just ready, edges toe and done in less than an hour.

I get you. Hopefully it works! Im sick of batting 1-4. Be nice to have some fun in the middle order.
I am keen to get back the the nets for another coaching session and try it out. Its 2.10, but feels 2.8.
Incidentally, I put an inch offcut of grip under the handle tip of the master and that feels about 2.75 now. All these little tricks i have learnt over the years.
