Tom works for them . . .I think slogger02 has an MMi so might be worth asking them . . .not sure if Tom will be impartial tho! haha

MMi3 is undoubtedly more powerful than a regular bat, from just looking at it and then using it I don't think anyone can deny that fact. Just a case of it you can be converted to using a shorter bat.

Slogger bought both, Raymond and Peplow have used the CoR3's.

I have used a MMi3, and played against two guys that used them.  I found it too bottom heavy, personally.

One of the guys I played against got out third ball- got a short ball (we had a man back on the hook), he had to take it on, and was caught.

Haven't seen/used a CoR3 so can't comment on them, but personally don't see the point of them over a normal shorter blade/longer handle bat.  Surely an Uzi or similar will have more whip in the handle which will more than outweigh the (small) benefit of not having a splice.  Personally I don't use the splice that much, and the odd time I do (a rising bouncer), I'm quite relieved that it is a dead spot on the bat and drops at my feet...

they are both excellent concepts, the CoR particularly caught my eye and without doubt was the better of the 2 i bought.  however the MMi is still a very nice bat!

i'll do you lot a review later :) or tomorrow depending on when i'm free... on my cor3

Charlie,

the handle in the CoR isn't a standard cane handle as seen
on a regular bat. This compensates for the loss of whip.

The key with the MMi is not to change technique.

what is the handle made of?

and its hard not to change your technique as the bat feels so different.

would you recommend playing a back foot defence to a short ball, as that is what I would normally do early on in my innings?

Like tom said i have used the cor3, it was a very good bat. It felt good in the hands and was very well balanced.

It went very well indeed, saying you dont have use the splice is a moot point as it has effects of all areas of the bat. It extends the middle much higher up and felt more sloid on off center hits.

The basic style of cricket bats hasnt changed in a long long while, its ridiculous that people are so against change. Especially if it actually works, which in my view the mongoose certainly does.

I see what raymond is getting at about the spliceless blade extending the 'middle' of the blade. I had an Uzi with a spliceless blade and carbon core handle. It was horrible and thats kind of put me off the concept of the mongoose.

I dont ever see the MMi taking off but i think there is room for Cor3

Handle is majority wood but done changes in it and it's make up.

And yes I would reccomend a backfoot defensive if you play that shot usually.

is the handle ok to be hit by the ball at high speeds?

I would be worried about my fingers if the ball is gona hit the handle at high speeds..  :D

Got my mongoose cor3 of slogger on forum. It weighs 2lb 10 but picks up much lighter. Grains are straight and got a strip of heartwood down outside edge. I was slightly skeptical (sp???) about mongoose and their technology but i thought i'd give them a go. The difference the spliceless technology makes it amazing, literally the whole bat pings which is very good for performance as mis hits seem much rarer, the middle seems stupidly huge!! I know its not new technology but the shorter blade makes the bat excellent too, the edges are huge! the shoulders are thick and edges are about 35mm from the middle right down to the toe so its a very solid looking bat which gives you confidence i find when playing shots (digging out yorkers, driving almost yorkers etc) that you think could crack normal bats! The handle is chunkier around the bottom where the slice is in it but this is excellent for gripping the bat, as i hold it lower i have no need for extra grips on it (i was worried as i have small hands but its perfect). My bat speed is much quicker with the mongoose and this may sound stupid but it makes me think i'm gonna bat better with a better bat and as batting is very psychological its good. I honestly would recommend it to anyone, you wont regret it! Also i think mongoose have got it spot on with the stickers, they are classy, stylish and look brilliant. (not that this matter about the bat) Any more info wanted just ask away...

I cannot comment on taking a whack on the handle but i'm guessing it would be fine.

Yes it can be hit by the ball and survive, but obviously it's not reccomended to use that area of the bat every ball

I'll stick a video on Youtube of Stuart Law demonstrating a back foot defence with one for you.

Tom do Mongoose plan to release a 'traditional' bat?
Title: Re: mongoose reviews
Post by: Tom on December 05, 2009, 07:10:40 PM
No, there are so many traditional bats on the market with little separating them other than a change in stickers, middle position or slightly more concaving on another.

We're hoping to do something different, some people may love our ideas others will hate them.

Not used a Mongoose bat yet however i like the concept and my opinion is its great to see companies like them developing ideas which are vastly different to the main stream products sold by many others. On the point about does the concept work well why the hell wont it ? i no in very keen to try it out and although im a little behind Stew Law but i will give it a bash.

Well, considering it wasn't looking like England would get to 250 at one point, then anything more than 300 is a bonus!
Currently 329 for 8. Partnership of 87 runs. Wonder what the 8th wicket stand record is?

Is Anderson using a Mongoose with no splice or a mini splice? as it looked like it had a small splice?

What where they saying, out of interest?

Good to see Jimmy using it to decent effect too. Can't remember what we have sent him either so don't know what the splice was like.
Title: Re: mongoose reviews
Post by: Jamieh on December 18, 2009, 04:00:01 PM
Pollock and Hussain on sky had a chat about it, Pollock said he hadn't really heard of it, and nasser just said they thought it was a 20/20 thing
Title: Re: mongoose reviews
Post by: eaowbear on December 18, 2009, 04:02:54 PM
Vaughany mentioned the fact that Jimmy's batting must have improved as he has had 3 bat manufacturers in the last 12 months and then Aggers said something about a 'moose', and Vaughany said it was the new Mongoose. He then said it wasn't the new 20/20 bat but the more traditional one, or words to that effect

Post by: peplow on December 18, 2009, 04:12:20 PM
yeah pollock didnt have a scooby about them. But nas said mongoose had that "big bat" "with the long handle and big lump of bat on bottom, used in t20s by stuart law amongst others" or something like that

Would of been ironic if the only reason he got out was that the bat was better from higher up making the ball carry further!
