Interesting ??
Cricket Bat Performance Test (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YVWJ9CqNJA#ws)

So if you use a T20 type bat which allows you to use a heavier weight yet gives you more bat speed you can hit it further.
-
heavier older style, concaved bat, with low bat speed = bigger hit then the modern light big bat with high bat speed

Perfect post bank holiday topic!
Shows how good L&W really are!
Probably only one pressed properly, also had carbo handle so stiffer
It could be the future, one of these machines in every shop

If it's the Hornby in Christchurch then it's only 20 mins from me, no idea who these guys are but interesting none the less
-
Anyone else think the ball was hitting the bat a little high up?
-
4Kph difference is really not that much and very easily could be explained through variations in the experiment. If they really only did it once each then it is next to useless. Fun, but not very scientific.

Yes I did on the gray Nicolls bat and does grade off willow and pressing not help with the speed off the ball off the bat
-
I think it's missing the point. Modern bats have better off-centre power compared to older bats. I thought the MCC had already concluded that the actual middles of most bats from the last hundred years performed very similar?
-
^^^^ i think that is the key point. L&W has a high spine and being heavier it better middle. Again its all ready to go and not sure if e41 is brand new.

Slightly interesting , but totally meaningless
So many other factors come into how far a bat hits a ball.
I'm sure there was a test on YouTube of a t20 bat and a traditional bat that probably held more truth in it
