We will be selling the Stemguard at £50 with free delivery. The first 5 orders will enjoy 10% off :)
Stock arrival in August with limited stock to begin with so please move quickly if you want one.
The available colours are blue, maroon, green, yellow and black. The guard is specific the the model of helmet according to the spec sheet, so if you have an Elite helmet, you need to order an Elite stemguard, and the same for the Test and Club models, i will confirm this though.
-
will these fit on any of the older style grilles?
-
Just emailed you Jake
-
So it's £155 for the lid plus £50 for the stemguard.
Less the 10% if I order early I make that £200 all in.
Tempting... But expensive when I have two perfectly good lids! :-[
Jake do a sales job on me so I can justify buying one (or "win a competition") please ;)

How much? Wow. Thats a lot of cash for a piece of foam and plastic, i'm sure it does an excellent job of protecting the neck, but not a product for everyone i wouldn't think, not at that price anyway.
Also, is a lot when you compare it to their lowest Men's Helmet which is £75, seems a bit dispropotionate to me to charge £50 for that. Maybe even oppurtunistic in trying to profit massively from effectively an admittance that their product is not up to scratch to protect you sufficiently.
-
Great bit of kit safety wise but I'm staggered at the price, really am.
Should be including it FOC with the lid in my opinion - it's hardly going to cost a bomb to manufacture and if it's such a vital piece of kit then why charge it as an additional?
-
I am looking to buy one large Navy blue Masuri vision series with Steel grill. Please let me know the price shipped to USA. don't need the stemgaurd.
-
I see masuri are choosing to cash in on these. Shocking price!
-
Jeez, I expected around 15-20 max!

In sure my family would rather pay £50 for s stemguard than have to fund a funeral though...

I think you might be taking it a touch too far there for your standard club cricketer...
It's a luxury item, no matter how you look at it, and you can't honestly say that it represents good value for money when you look at what it actually is.
-
I will admit that I play an incredibly low standard of cricket, but that is so much money for something that is just so incredibly unlikely. I am surprised they haven't said, we are selling these at cost or something as a good will gesture for an il-designed helmet? And risk bias means we grossly over estimate risk, when things are in the public eye. For the number of ball, even the number of bouncers bowled daily around the world the risk is truly minimal. You are more likely to crash on the way to the game, or fall over after a pint on the way home. Far too much money for something so 'essential' that they didn't put on in the first place!
-
Volvo could have patented the seatbelt, but they didn't, as they believed it was better off letting the world have it, than making money off it.
This, masuri are merely looking to line the pockets on the back of a tragedy. Very poor IMO. It should be at cost, or small profit, to ensure all cricketers have the chance to be safe, not just the ones with money!
Plenty at my club who both them and there parents worlds struggle to afford it on top of a helmet!

Maybe so, but accidents happen and an ill placed throw, Beamer etc are more likely in club cricket than pro cricket.
It's an item that may never be needed, but if it's called into action just once it could be a life saver

You could apply this logic anywhere though, do you wear a stab vest at all times? No. But what if you get stabbed one day? It would have saved your life.
You know the risk, but it's such an inherently small risk that you take that chance. We take risks all the time, but as it has been stated you're probably more likely to get killed on the way to the ground, or being hit by a hot air ballon or an escaped mental patient beating you to death with a spoon.
Just seems like they're trying to profit from an addmittance that their product doesn't protect you adequetly, if it did, then there'd be no need for this

Don't go making assumptions now... ;)

Think I paid 130 for my helmet. Which protects about 80% of my head and neck. This adds another 10% protection.
Yet they are charging 50 quid for it.
That's almost 30% increase in price for 10% extra protection.
Time it just far enough away so that you aren't abused by people for milking a tragedy. But soon enough to ensure you can capitalise on their fears.
Shameful masuri.
Must add, not vitas' fault. They are just doing their job. :-[
-
That is $ 76 USD!!!!
How difficult would it be to fashion something out of plastic and styrofoam for under $20 USD?!
I have an issue with Masuri brand in general. The welding of their grills is very weak. One hit and welding is undone in 3 locations. Bloody titanium grill too.
Ridiculous!

The longer the debate, the more advertisement vitas get from this thread.
No debate, may equal 1 or 2 sales.
Big debate, could get you ten sales.
Win for vitas.

There is no suggestion that any new BSI regulation helmets are not up to the required standard. The latest safety test does not examine potential neck injuries at all. The new safety test was designed to address facial impacts.
I personally feel Masuri have reacted very quickly to a tragic and freak accident, quick turnaround and R&D costs of course contribute to the price.
I don't think it has been suggested as being vital. If it was vital or they were admitting that the helmet alone isn't safe enough then they would be only selling helmets with fixed stemguards from now onwards.
This is an add-on for those who want it.

I suspect not, but will investigate.

Haven't had a new Masuri helmet returned yet, and no feedback in the trade that the grilles are failing. The grilles are made round the corner from us by a very professional company.
Are you referring to the old style Masuri helmets, made in India?

It's the old style one, not the new Vision series. I don't know where it is made.
Still, a titanium grill so easily undone? I had to play $50 USD to buy a replacement titanium grill.

I can't comment really on the old style helmets, we haven't had any stock for about 18 months. Being a new retailer i was less clued into feedback from the trade back then, but i have taken a lot of impacts on my own old style titanium WK helmet over the years and it is still intact, fingers crossed.

Will a yellow one like in the picture not be available Jake?

It's not on the trade list, i think the yellow one is just a prototype in a striking colour to highlight the features. If you really want a yellow one i'll try and pull some strings :)

That's strange, I spotted this on Twitter and they say yellow will be available.
I'm assuming that Masuri either plan to add it to their range, or simply forgot to remove it from their Press Release on the product.
https://www.masuri.com/uk/general-news/article/stemguard-summer-release/ (https://www.masuri.com/uk/general-news/article/stemguard-summer-release/)
The StemGuard will be available to purchase in August across five colours; navy, green, maroon, black and yellow. All leading cricket retailers will be stocking the StemGuard to compliment the market leading Vision Series range of helmets.
-
What's the weight of the Stemgaurd?
-
Masuri have described it as 'very light' but are putting it on some scales for me now.
To confirm, yellow is also available :)
-
Any update on these Jake?
-
Masuri are aiming for 1st week of Sept, if not earlier.
-
Up there with chest guards for instant ridicule/ammo ;)

Cricket in a nutshell.
Must ridicule anything that is different/new....... No wonder the game is dying.
-
Ridiculed for caring about my own safety, they can say what they like about my Stem Guard (when it arrives) but I'm wearing it for me, not them.
If you don't like it, don't use one. Simples
-
Being on the ball I've realised we're now into September!
Any update on these Jakeus?? @Vitas Cricket
