Exciting team named

Ireland: William Porterfield (capt), Paul Stirling, Ed Joyce, Niall O'Brien, Andy Balbirnie, Gary Wilson (wk), Kevin O'Brien, John Mooney, George Dockrell, Alex Cusack, Craig Young.

England: Alex Hales, Jason Roy, James Vince, James Taylor (capt), Zafar Ansari, Jonny Bairstow (wk), David Willey, Adil Rashid, Tim Bresnan, Steven Finn, Mark Wood.

Gutted that Billings isn't playing

Good team choice, hopefully we'll see the young guns show us that they should have been picked for the World Cup squad

Same on Billings, surely they know enough about Bairstow, probably beats Billings on the batting side of things which may have swayed it

I'm surprised Gregory has been left out - Bresnan has no place in the team IMO.

At least it's a start...

What's the point of playing bresnan, only bowling at 81mph. Good bloke selection

Bresnans just leaving the door ajar for the old guard. It looks a cracking batting line up. Will be nice to see rashid and wood have a bash after last weeks anti climax in the Caribbean.

Playing Bresnan  is a step backwards.

A few friends are over at the game, weather looking very grim by all accounts for this afternoon. Good to see Roy and Ansari picked, two players that in all honesty aren't ready (Particularly Zafar), but are getting thrown in for the experience and challenge.

It's good that England are playing Ireland, are NZ or aus playing them when over ?  Good that youngsters get a gig too, these games are decent ways to see who performs etc

I hope Ireland bag a decent score here so that we see a decent run chase, be a shame if its turns into a 200 in 50 overs affair.

Finn not impressing in his first over.. 81-82mph only.. Not good enough

think it might take a few overs to warm up before coming in at full tilt!

The Aussies are playing Ireland in Belfast I believe when they are over. It's a shame that Ireland and other associates can't get more exposure to Full Members. I really think it would be worth 'forcing' a side that tours England to play a warm up game against either/both Ireland & Scotland. Probably wouldn't be a step down from most county sides, and would help the associates development.

Hmm, I'm not as sure. I think the World Cup, the change in Strauss/Moores and General expectation of getting better that some of these will stay in the squad. There is a definite feel that many. Hanged are afoot.
