I visited 5 cricket retailers today - Pro4Sport, Barrington Sports, Cricket Supplies and Owzat Cricket......
Everyone of them had loads and loads of Original LE bats, but fewer Original and even fewer 909 bats.
Going by the definition of Original LE bats - the willow used is the best and limited by availability....but the original LE followed by the original out numbered the 909 and 808 bats!! Guess the distinction between the Original LE, Original and 909 is just in the definition....
Two of the retailers (sorry cannot name them) said that the LE is made out of lighter clefts and hence you can get a 2.8/2.9 up to 2.13 in a LE, whereas the Original and 909 are made out of standard clefts and hence starting from 2.9/2.10 -2.14. Also that the LEs and original have a cleaner blade.......mostly
Not sure what to go by, but there were some 909 bats that had excellent ping similar to the LEs or the Original bats.....
Has anyone else experienced this?
There is a serious price difference to pay for a cleaner blade....... LE is £280 / Original is £240 / 909 is £170/£180.....

just a minor point, thats 4
the difference between LE and 909 is market speak as far as im concerned. the differnece between the 2 does not warrant the price difference.

the Hero 909 I have has amazing ping.. It does have a knot on the face, but besides that the bat is amazing..
-
LE's are apparently the better performing of the G1's, so quite possibly the lighter clefts.
Any other bats catch your eye in those shops?
-
I hope Original LE's are as good as they say because I'm getting a custom one on Monday.
-
your paying for a custom LE when redback and H4L are churning out superior (my opinion) bats for cheaper?
-
I'm not paying for it though mate, my cannon LE snapped and they are replacing it for free with a Icon/Hero shape with icon stickers, brilliant customer service!

yes think i say mongoose in Owzat..... very good I must say....will buy one if I am able to sell my Adidas Incruza Elite....
some LWs were very nice...but stock from early 2009
Say the new Flare DMX+ and Icon DMX+
GN Evo looked good...
I bought a ICON DMX 909. Apart from the bat having a very similar ping to the LEs and Originals I tapped.....it had a butterfly mark toward the toe (about 2 inches above the toe)....so I had reasons to believe that it will make the toe stronger as the toe on the Icon and Flare are very petite.....I hope my judgment was right. Will post pics of the bat later....

i saw a 909 flare at scs this week, it was 2,15 but felt like an 11.... i would have probably picked it over any of the l.e's

And Fusion Sports wasn't it Yash?

which mongoose did you see mate?

Fusion Sports are not retailers......more of bespoke bat makers...
Fifth shop was Peak Sports...

From my experiences, I cannot tell much difference between the original GM bats and the Original L.E's. I currently have a 2 year old GM Purist original sitting here, and when I compare that to a purist II original LE, there is no difference. They are pretty much the same weight and the profile is the same size!
Personally, I think its just the cleaner looking willow is boosted up to make a higher model to sell for more money! Just my opinion.
