Title: Salix Rogues
Post by: iand123 on May 17, 2015, 02:04:50 PM
Do they still do these? A friend is looking for a salix but doesnt want to pay full whack as he is a bowler. For some reason i thought they stopped doing these and were being sold by retailers now

They done do these any more mate, replaced with the stinger range, tends to be heavier density clefts but still play very well.

They make 'Hits Hard' now which is their cheaper range

Yeah I knew hat but they are lower grade clefts if I'm not mistaken. The rogues used to be seconds, small pressing cracks and that sort of thing as opposed to lower grade willow

When I was growing up, factory seconds used to be ridiculously good bargains and I used to travel down there to grab one or two at a time. They became rarer though and then as bat prices escalate, so did the price of the seconds (Not digging at Salix here by the way). I enquired last summer and they are very few and far between and have a list of names at their workshop waiting if any come up as people are wanting a Salix at a cheaper price and generally the small imperfections have no impact on the performance and often longevity either so they get a cut price bargain
