Just noticed that CSK uses a Ayrtek helmet with a Albion Ti Grill!!!!
Tom, Any reason for this??
-
I think Tom mentioned that Sangakara is not sponsored by Ayrtek but just uses the shell as its better than anything he's used before

How well did he bat today by the way? 21 Test Hundreds for WK/Batsman for most of the time . . . which WK has the most test 100's?
-
yeah ayrtek dont pay anyone to wear there helmets. He had an ayrtek grille but changed it to his albion as he preferred it.
-
I have an Ayrtek Ti grill and Albion Ti grille, I use the Albion with my Ayrtek helmet, but that's just personal preference
-
Think i would use my masuri ti if i got an ayrtek lid, just because the ayrtek grille doesnt allow u huge gap to see through like my masuri does.
-
that's my reasoning behind the Albion grill anyway.
by the way, is it grill or grille, it's been annoying me lol
-
grille
-
thank you ;D

Yeah he has 3 helmets from us now and as a qualified solicitor he obviously isn't silly when it comes to choosing the helmet that will best protect him should the worst happen and he takes one in the head.
We don't formally sponsor any players but look to supply players with free issue helmets should they request them to wear as such. He started off with an Ayrtek grille when we sent the first one out to him and wore this through the world cup, he then changed it to an Albion 98 grille and the to a normal Albion club grille.
The difficulty we have is in finding a grille that everyone likes as obviously everyone has a different shaped head/face which leads to them having a different level of eye line etc. So whatever they prefer to use is obviously up to them but the shell remains as Ayrtek as this is what is providing the protection to him.
Our titanium grille was designed so that it would fit both an Ayrtek, Albion and Masuri helmet to give people the choice as well rather than making it so that it only fits our shell. This obviously works the other way as well so should people wish to use an Ablion/Masuri grille on our shells they can do so.
Hope that all makes sense!
P.S at least i got his initials in the correct order after my 1st attempt when we were sampling for Chennai Super Kings and it ended up being CSK on the side of his helmet. Not my fault i only followed the email i received!! lol

Not in the same league as Gilchrist. Sangakkara has 7 hundreds as wicket-keeper, whereas Gilchrist 17.
-
Have to disagree with you there, maybe not the same type of player as Gilchrist, but 21 tests hundreds as a wk/batsman/captain is world class

He has 7 hundreds as wicket-keeper/batsman. The remaining 14 hundreds he scored, where scored when he solely played as a batsman. Secondly, when Sangakkara plays as wicket-keeper/batsman he averages 40. Gilchrist averages 47. Thus proving Gilchrist is the best.

jeet stop pissing on kumars bomb fire
-
Glichrist 10 golden ducks in test...
Sangakara 4 golden ducks in test...
The guy with the less golden ducks is better.. ;D
Just joking Jeet, both are class acts..
Sangakara is very stable batsman.. Glichrist is a very dangerous batsman..
That being said I think Sangakara can play very aggressively if needed..
Glichrist saving a test by batting an extended period of time is a little iffy..
If I was selecting a team, Test spot would go to Sangakara ODI spot would to Glichrist..

Another 59 for Sangakkara over the weekend...great game seeing over 400 runs in 40 overs too!! Also Weeraratne was wearing his helmet we sent him when he went into bat...good to see them making use of them!
-
Good coverage today eh Tom
-
Yes mate one hell of a game and another great innings from Sanga, so all adds up to good coverage for the helmet. Hoping a few of the Indian lads who have them might be brave enough to start wearing theirs soon lol
Havent seen India's batting yet but must have been pretty impressive as well to pick up 414 off of 50 overs.
Few pics from todays play....both batting and wk keeping
