Are there any women cricketers on here?
I'm curious to see what problems (if any) women find when looking for bats. Is it just weight and grip diameter that tend to be problems or can there be an issue with blade sizes as well?

I think (happy to be corrected) there is a lighter type of willow that can be used?? Must be limited or a reason why normal blades are t used for everyone

Low density willow is an option yes, but tends to be at a premium. I was thinking about options that bridge between varying grades of bat not just the top end.

I don't believe it's just light density clefts, I think it's actually a different natural product. Really needs a bat maker/ willow grower (so Rob Pack, Matt from H4L, Kippax) to say.

My Girlfriend plays and uses the 'Newbery 7even'. Previously it was a custom Salix made to similar proportions. Both have blades that are slightly shorter than a regular sized SH bat. Handles on both are super skinny. She has tried a few Womens Bats and could not get on with them (mainly the Newbery Chic) for no other reasons that she just did not like them. She has used short handled bats as well as harrows equally effectively. Im sure like us when choosing a bat it is down to personal preference.

Excellent! thanks for reply @shamelessshaun. I think what I'm trying to find out is, are smaller women happy to go with Harrow sizes and accept the decrease in blade width as a result or would a full width blade always be preferable?

She, as most would agree a full size blade width will be ideal over a thinner harrow blade. She has said the proportions of the 7even are bang on and probably would not change from it for a while, she is around 5'5"/5'6". Im not sure how it comes up against the GM womens bat size wise or any other womens bats for that matter. Hope that helps any.

Very helpful thanks, I am looking at producing a bat with dimensions more suited to women cricketers as there doesn't seem to be that much about.
