Seems WAY too expensive for what it is personally, I think the gf would kill me buying a piece of wood for that price haha  :D

Its mad mad money! Its a stunning looking bat and the stickers and engraving are all lovely. Its obviously a big bat for the weight and no doubt a proper proper gun. I just don't really see the value in the limited numbers. I think the leather cap is great, the binding is a nice touch. But if thats it, that cannot be worth the money. And if you are paying £100 extra, to say you have one of 10 bats a year etc, its proper willy measuring and not for me. I am sure it will make somebody very happy but not for me. For collectables, I understand that rarity is vitally important, but this is for use and so I don't see how rarity adds any value other than the person can say they own it. But I know that makes people happy so all power to them and I am sure somebody will snap it up.

I haven't watched the video so i don't know if IJC or you are saying it, but I'm not sure they are as rare as 10 per year. We've sold 3 and have another one on the shelf.

Stunning bats, Robin had 2 Legends when they first came to the market and they were serious bats. The price has continued to rise, but so has the demand, we sold one per year until this year for example.

I just want that bat cover. Oh wait, I got that with my X181. Have to agree with Paul that its a mistake arriving to the ball in a pumpkin. Awesome looking bat but its overpriced and looks similar to  the Slazenger V5 profile i had last season.

Sorry, 10 was just an arbitrary low figure. IJC stated 1 in 5000 which doesn't mean very much unless you know how many multiples of 5000 they produce but its safe to assume not many. I don't doubt the market is there, people will by the best/limited run of anything. For those into watches, Bell & Ross are just standard off then shelf movements, in great packing. They sell for thousands, because of their exclusivity, marketing etc. I am not saying these bats are ordinary, they look great, super light etc, don't get me wrong they are great bats. But I do not see how in this case exclusivity adds value. For the watch, they might be limited, but they have resale value especially when from a limited run. Where as these bats, although yes they will have higher resale value they loose so much of it by being used it's hard to see the value. It is just my opinion, I am sure there are people who will buy it, love it and I would love to own one, but for me I don't see the value in any of the 'limited' bats. Especially in the pre-made market. But hey ho I hope they go well for the sponsors and those who buy them, but just not for me so for that reason I am out. ;)

You probably won't want to answer this but what type of person buys them? Would it be collectors, seriously decent players who need the guarantee of the way it plays or is it the all the gear no idea type?

Would never need to spend that much on a bat. it is just not worth it

Also I bought that bat cover for £4 from Gray Nics sports bay account.

nice bat, nothing out of the ordinary at 35mm edge and 55mm spine

I agree. You can probably get a lot better for less. You're effectively paying for tag of "legend" and the fancy writing, as it's gray nics they can get away with it. If a smaller brand offered something similar they'd be crucified

At the end of the day there will always be people willing to pay whatever for something that bit special or unique. If my bank balance was bigger and had an ego that paying a lot for a bat I could use no better than one cheaper then I may be tempted.

But as it is I have a wife that'd kill me!!

GN spends sooo much money on sponsorship obviously they have to make it up somewhere, very good bat but way too expensive  :(

Lovely bat but what happens when it needs a refurb, it's not like they can just put new stickers on - do they sand round the etching or sand it out and re-etch (which sounds expensive)?

To add even more insult to charging £700 for a bat or even if you can pick this up for £550 or what ever the retailer sells for is this even made in UK or is this still Indian made? Any ideas

Pretty certain that the very top end Legends are made at Robertsbridge.
Based on ping looks and the weight I am tempted.

Sure it does, but I have a rather lovely Aldred butterfly 1 and got a leading edge on it last week which chipped a load of wood off and at some point managed to toe one (I can't recall exactly when it happened) and I'm pretty upset about it. Also had a custom made GN bought for me as a present and managed to drop it from a reasonable height causing many scuffs and dings which broke me a little inside. If I'd spent £500+ on a bat even seeing a cherry right out of the sweetspot would be painful!

I have a secondhand £50 Salix and I still sand off the cherries and re-oil every month. got an Aldred G1 butterfly on order so I will probably have to take it to bed with me. A £550 pound bat would never see the light of day.

Yes as soon as i have finished batting i put my bat in yhe car in its soft pocket and bat cover The next day I remove  all the marks of the bat  then put the bat back in its soft pocket and in its bat cover and then in my bat storage display case in the garage and don't take it out its  sleeve untill  I am due to bat the following match.

I think they are Indian made myself as don't think the laser engraving is done in the uk I might be wrong but I am pretty sure they are not made in the uk

There are definitely two different versions one made in india and one made in uk because I had seen two different versions in Indian market one priced at indian rupees 25000 equivalent to 250 pounds and another one at whooping rupees 50000-55000 equivalent to 550 pounds, an year ago. No dealer will sell the same bat for 300 pounds more esp. in India if same is available for less from somewhere else . On Indian sports websites they are sold as Gn9(Indian) and Gn10(UK probably :)) versions of LEGEND. The local gray nicolls dealer where i live once sold a GN9 LEGEND to a software employee for corporate tournament and it didnt look as exclusive as the LEGEND in the video.

Anything carrying GN9, GN10, GN7 as opposed to the usual grading of LE, 5 Star etc etc is a bat intended for the Indian market only.

That is 100% true..I bought a MAVERICK Gn3 which had 4 star written under its sticker...the point is if indian made bats are stickered differently for Indian and UK market ,then why cant UK made LEGEND be stickered  in the Indian GN factory and sold as Gn10 version of LEGEND..  :)
