Title: Possible broken toe, should I play?
Post by: Akewstick on May 21, 2015, 11:19:54 AM
Got a Yorker on the toes of my front foot last night, big toe is all sorts of black and blue and at the moment I can’t walk properly let alone run. I’m thinking I’ll probably be able to sort of run by Saturday. I’ve not found out if it’s broken because everyone has said they just strap it to the one next to it regardless and it doesn’t really matter. I think probably is broken. Think I’m stupid for playing on Saturday?

If it makes you a liability in the field and unable to run between the wickets when batting, don't you think you are stupid to play on Saturday?

I would go to a Doctor / A&E and confirm with a professional if it is broken.

I wouldn't play this weekend, give it a chance to heal.

You must be one of those soft bowlers, not a gritty batsmen. Boony would have just put a cold can on it.

I had a broken toe two weeks ago pal its a tough one mine was a simple crack so easy to fix I just grinned and took it but as a keeper my movement suffered and I did not enjoy it as muc because of this. Batting I found difficult but it playable it still sore today but will just crack on

You won't hit me on the toes taking guard at square leg!

Well I am a liability in the field every Saturday without a broken toe....

A-stick, it's up to you really - at the moment you 'think' it might be broken, and 'everyone has said they just strap it to the one next to it regardless'  so you don't actually know if it's broken or not.

If it's broken it may be difficult to play on, if it's only bruised then you can probably just get on with it.

Seeing as you can barely walk or run at the moment, and it's Thursday, I just thought you might want to know - also, if its a awkward break they might not set properly.

However, I am just a southern softy.

I tweaked my hamstring two matches ago and limped and hobbled inbetween the wickets and around the field and nobody noticed any difference, I very nearly had to accept I'm not the world class athlete I thought I was.

I'm probably going to tell my captain and leave the choice with him. If we're down to 10 men I think he'll be grateful for me crippled or not.
