Hello,
Seeing as I have read a lot of reviews of the bats made by the forum sponsors I thought I would offer my own.
After toying with getting a new bat during the winter and resisting I finally decided to take the plunge now the season is in full swing.
I was looking for a modern shape bat with classic styling and the Aldred Spectre seemed to fit the bill perfectly.
After buying a my last bat online (Slazenger V100 TAS) and being disappointed (Poor Pickup, Huge Concaving and big edges) I decided getting a bat made exactly how I wanted it was the way to go to avoid a season with a bat i wasn't confident using.
I got in touch with Paul via email and after a bit of advice and further trawling through this forum I went from requesting a grade two Supreme in 2lb 8oz to putting my order in for a Butterfly one Spectre at 2lb 10oz.
The cut to the chase, I love everything about this bat! I was worried about the weight as my V100 was 2lb 10 too but Paul's advice was dead on, it picks up just as well as my 2lb 9oz GN Dynadrive which is light as a feather, pings fantastically (my teammate said it felt like a trampoline off the middle) from the get go and looks superb (see pics)
I was told that this only qualified as a Butterfly due to the colouring (does that count as Heartwood or something else?), otherwise this would have been classed as a Players grade bat as it is flawless.
Specs:
Weight : 2lb 10oz
Edge Size: 36mm
Spine Height: 60mm
Grains: 22 ish
I am one very happy customer, I am nearly done knocking it in so i am looking forward to using it in a match over the next couple of weeks and hopefully scoring some runs.

Amazing grains!!!
Amazing Grains, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.
T'was Grains that taught my heart to fear.
And Grains, my fears relieved.
How precious did those Grains appear
The hour I first believed.
Through many bouncers, yorkers and nicks
I have already come;
'Tis Grains that brought me safe thus far
and Grains will lead me home.
Lords has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my Stretton Foxes and form be,
As long as life endures.
Yea, when this willow and cane shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease;
I shall profess, within the vail,
A life of sixes and fours.

I ordered a G1 Butterfly in the supreme shape. Hope mine is like yours. Fingers crossed. How long did you have to wait for it? I can't wait.
-
Bonny bat that. Hope it scores lots of runs for you!
-
A bloke at my club ordered a butterfly and a players grade last season. He is yet to knock in the players grade as the butterfly is a monster all over the bat. you will not be disappointed in the slightest.
-
Where's the butterfly stain? Looks as good as any G1 to me...
-
Gurujames - It took eight working days to come to me after the money had been received and I had chosen the cleft. Paul had told me it would be up to ten when I first contacted him
AJMW89 - There is no butterfly stain at all, just that the majority of the bat is darker coloured. I don't know if that is Heartwood or staining specifically related to the butterfly imperfection.

!!!!! Stunning bat

Another amazing value butterfly from Paul. What a bargain for £135. I've had a couple of butterfly's from him and they've been cracking bats, you won't be disappointed.
-
really struggling to understand how that is a butterfly.... i would have chosen that cleft all day long
-
Great looking stick. Hope it goes well for you.

I think Butterfly G1 are 175 and not 135. Still a great looking bat and don't see any butterfly stains

Is it the photo or the wavy grains, or is the spine off centre? Sure it won't make a difference, lovely looking bat and shape.
-
Beautiful bat mate. I've been thinking long and hard about getting one of these for a while now.
-
I think its an optical illusion Alvaro from the wavy grains, the spine is central as I look at it in the flesh/wood.
Had a net with it this morning against the BM at a steady pace, felt really good, far fewer vibrations and a sweeter sound than my Dynadrive which I used a bit for comparison. hit some lovely long drives out of the net.
One minor thing I am struggling with is the handle, it is so thick where my bottom hand goes, miles more than any bat I have owned and it feels a bit unnatural at the moment.
Opening the batting tomorrow against last seasons Division Champions, I think its ready.
