Title: Who would you most like to have made you a bat
Post by: SAF Bats on July 17, 2008, 08:38:55 AM
Over the years well since around 1863 there have been a fair few bat makers.....

Who would you have liked to have a bat made by

I've thought about it and I am going for:

John Newbery [was either going to be him or his Father Len Newbery]

Here something to help you along the way

L J Nicholls [Nicholls Bats]
|
Len Newbery [Nicholls Bats - then Gray-Nicholls]
|
John Newbery [Newbery]
|
Julian Millichamp [Millichamp and Hall] - Andrew Kember [Salix Bats] - Tim Keeley [Newbery bats] J Newbery Apprentices
          |
James Laver [Laver and Wood] - Paul Bradbury [Bradbury] - Sam Miller [formerly Chase now Puma??] Millichamp Apprentices
|
Marty Graham [MG2] James Laver Apprentice

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Max Warsop [Warsop and Stebbing]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Stuart Surridge and George Busey [Stuart Surridge]
                       |
Norman Hunt [Stuart Surridge, see below]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Benjamin Warsop & Sons [B. Warsop & sons]
                |
George Hunt [Formerly of Stuart Surridge] -  Fred Church
                |                                                 |
Norman Hunt [Hunts County]                  Chris Hext Farrant [Premier Bat Company New Zealand] Still makes them today

Thats a cracking question Andy, give me a few hours to mull it over.  At this moment in time i wouldn't mind a certain Chris Easby making one but he never has the time!

Why you of course Norbs!

Otherwise, Stuart Kranzbuhler (is that how it's spelled???)

I've only really learned about custom bats and who the bat makers are over the last few years, so don't really know many other than modern era guys.

The cleft was a good looking, good performance cleft, if its was a little bit bigger would have made the perfect bat.

Knocked it in yet Dave?
