Title: SS Murali Vijay Players Bat
Post by: joymarvin on May 30, 2015, 11:50:17 AM
Ordered this lovely players bat from Cricmart.in. I was shown couple of other players bat but was looking for a more lighter profile than my previous purchased players bat in 2.9. They had two bats in 2.7 and immediately snapped one of them. Massive for its size, extremely light and is a soft pressed willow just as the players prefer it. Cricmart.in has the access to the best players bat when available as they get sold off very quickly. I have always wanted Murali Vijays bat as he normally uses a lighter profile compared to other players. This is the exact same bat which he uses and was made for him by SS. Refer below specs and pictures of this great players bat.

SS Murali Vijay's Players Bat
Weight - 2.7
Edges - 41mm
Pickup - Feather light
Ping - Super Pingy
Grains - 12
Profile - Full profile, nil concaving and quiet a thick toe

Exactly [emoji6]

What I meant, sarcastically, is that it is an over priced bat.

Nice grains and big for the weight, but I've seen raw clefts where the toe/end has been cut neater than that looks from the photos, can always give it a sand yourself but expect better for high end bats.

Yes you're right. Most of the players clefts come in this way. The player name was mentioned but sanded off as some ink residue can be seen.

These are left unsanded for the toe guard to stick properly.

do many pros use toe guards?

I think all SS bats are processed the same. It gives a viable option for anyone to apply toe guard at a later stage. I know this from Mr. Sareen himself.

The only thing is if these bats are that good then why ss doesn't promote them as other bats. Like GM has players edition, ss should do something similar.
Like the whole mistery around bat being for a player and a prized possession (along with rest of public doubting that)
 doesn't make much sense.

Hi pal..These bats were made for professional players but acquired by the seller as they are not the actual off-shelf bats.
As far as SS promotion goes, they promote bats which are more profitable such as the Master which is full range and have multiple model bats.

They do have player's edition equivalent like TON Reserve...  the pro bats are leftovers with some random stickers.

But these ones are expensive than reserve edition. My point being that non of the off the shelf SS bats are that expensive.

Only manufacturer can answer on why they don't start a range like GM does. I would think there has to be a reason on why the cost is higher than off the shelf bats.
