Back in September, I got in contact with Red Ink to take advantage of his end of season sale. I picked out a lovely looking cleft and a few weeks later received a nice bat - very good finish and balance on it too.(http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd117/fake_street_spirit/af05a8165a96b0154600e8cf91bc130b_zps6c5d6b9d.jpg)
The following months were filled with the stresses and strains of buying a house and staying with the inlaws. Cricket pottering was at a minimum. So, it was early this year that I began to knock the bat in. Unfortunately, after a few cursory bashes this happened:

I contacted John, and he was great. Offered to take it back and have a look. I duly did, and shortly after I received the bat back, repressed and well taped up. In fact, the bat felt better bouncing a ball and all was well.
Unfortunately, when I started knocking again, the same thing happened and the crack started spreading. Again, John was quick to reply to messages and after checking, offered to make a replacement. He glued up the original too, and sent it me to along with the new bat. Which is awesome. I love it, characterful grains, lovely feel and it taps up (no splits or cracks after 20 mins of wood bashing) really well. It's one inch shorter, with a longer handle, mid middle and offset edge. A bit like the DB3 posted earlier. The finish is super. I can't recommend John enough - really patient and reasonable. A good batmaker too. Thanks for a beauty.

Not bad for a grade 3!

Glad you like the new version. First was probably a touch soft as The blemish in that area didn't really seem to take much pressing and when it started to lift it didn't do enough to get any glue under. More knocking in caused it to lift a bit more so I could get glue in and repair it. At least you have a net bat to use and a nice t20 bat to smash the bowlers around with.
Enjoy knocking it in mate and hopefully get to terrorise the bowlers soon

Couldn't be happier - many thanks.

Mmmmmmmmm! Batgasm!

Looks lovely. Brilliant customer service. Never heard at bad word or seen bad kit from John. I used my gloves for the first time tonight absolutely love them.

Update... This bat goes like Shane Watson off a shovel.
I'm not a big hitter, but I've timed a couple that have simply gone. With a Red Ink offer on, I'd grab yourself a bargain in the X3 grade.

Great to hear mate.

Just a quick update on this bat - it is now sounding very nice indeed, and it's turning out to be an incredible bat in terms of value. An English custom bat for £100 is silly really, go for it!

Can't see how it can be beaten on price or quality for a custom made bat.

Precisely.
