Wasn't it known as the Falcon Bat as well? If so it's been doing the rounds for a while as you say. Sounds more like a PR attempt to drum up interest where there isn't much. In t20/odi you want edges going up and over the field, otherwise you would be caught. In tests, I can't imagine the edge will go down if you push at the ball in any way.

What if it snicks the back of the bat, a thin nick I doubt there'd be much difference in that scenario.

I'd be worried about breaking my bat if it thins out towards the edge.

Also what is currently a pull shot edged over slips/keeper for 4/6 would surely now go straight up?

And if you under edge it, you're risking drag ons even more...

I'm more interested in the increased bat speed aspect. This could be the perfect t20 bat, instead of the "half bat" designs out there.

The increased bat speed through reduced drag is absolute BS. The biggest cause of drag in a cricket bat is the big, flat face and not the edges. The <1% improvement garnered from changing the edges makes next to no difference. You'd be better shaping it like a baseball bat.

See this is why pilots should not drink. They can't plane straight edges. I want that 5 mins i wasted on the video back too.
