we lost the semi's today thanks to the umpire; the guy was relatively new to the umpiring circuit but then the local cricket authority revoked the discussion to a rematch leading us to a loss in the semi's.
i still can't wrap my head around how in the world can this umpire give an lbw when the ball was way outside off stump & leg stump..confused about giving wides & whats funny he couldnt' keep count on how many balls have been bowled in an over..
oh well; out appeal didn't work but the umpire has been disqualified till he retakes the umpiring course....
really disappointed...

You just have to hope for swings and roundabouts in these situations. We had a situation in a semifinal a couple of years ago where we bowled first and agreed with both umpires that anything down leg was a wide. In this competition it's 14 eight ball overs and wides are 4 runs and no extra ball. Everything in our bowling innings anywhere near leg stump was given wide. Fair play.
We came out to bat and part of our team talk was ensuring we left everything missing leg stump, so we did and all of a sudden one of the umpires decided only everything going at least a foot outside leg stump was a wide, we were leaving them and everything. Ended up losing by about 12 runs.

At least you've managed to get rid of the umpire from the circuit. That's got to be at least a bit of a positive. It means that no-one else can face such a disaster.

though we're disappointed on the outcome, we're very pleased the umpire is off the circuit. but again, we worked so hard to get into the semi's with only 1 lose this season.

Was it a league umpire or one of the oppositions?

Was it a league umpire or one of the oppositions?
technically it should be a leagues umpire which was the case for the past seasons; funnily enough we didn't know that due to the opposition had full rights of the ground they had the right to bring in their own umpire.
which to us made it look as if it was a match fix but to the authority here they said it was the case of poor umpiring aka lack of knowledge? which doesn't make sense as these umpires are well trained by the acc?
anyways; long story short they decided to revoke the decision & have sent them through the finals.
in my personal option; the committee is just blinded by the opposition having their own ground as here we have 5 grounds which one of them they have full rights too..
...funny how they say cricket is a gentleman's game but it wasn't played in that fashion last sunday..really disappointed.
