Title: Protecting stickers

I'm just about to buy a couple of retro bats.

I want to clean them up and then use them for Sunday League games or nets but I don't want to damage the stickers.

I was thinking about covering them with some clear plastic then putting an antiscuff sheet ove the top of them

What does everyone think about that? Good idea or not?

not sure that would work. from what I understand you plan to have the bat, a non sticky sheet of plastic then the scuff sheet. Would the ball make a hollow sound when it hits the stickers as the scuff sheet won't be stuck down to anything?
In my experience the stickers on retro bats last well without protection.
More importantly what bats have you got and let's see the photos.

If the stickers have lasted this long, they'll be fine to use.

I'd clean the bat up, carefully sanding around the stickers by hand, if needed. Then sand the rest of the bat.

If you are really worried about damaging the stickers when using the bat, wipe then down to clean then, let them dry and put a clear anti scuff on them.

I want a barrier between the stickers and the antiscuff so that I can remove the antiscuff at a later date without damaging the stickers. 

I'm not concerned about what sound it makes as it's only the stickers near the splice I'd be covering

So far I have a Gray Nichols Scoop from the 80's, a GM Diamond and an original Kookaburra Bubble.  Hopefully I'll win an 80's Duncan Fearnley today. 

They all look really cool but I want to us them a bit too

I have a SS Turbo from the 90's which has no protection and the stickers are still in fantastic condition. If you are only using them occasionally I dont think you will damage them even if they are uncovered.

You could always trace the outline of stickers on scuff sheet then cut it with scissors and apply on top of stickers so that way you are only covering the stickers with scuff sheet
