Title: Changing a handle
Post by: GeorgeB93 on June 29, 2015, 03:02:18 PM
Hi guys!

Just a quick question regarding taking a handle from old bat and placing it into a new bat. I've got an old oval handle and want to swap it with my current bat handle.

If it's possible, is it possible to do at home and how would I go about doing it?

Thanks

Have you thought about how it will affect the balance of the Bat also are the bat vees exactly the same is the handle wedge smaller on the old bat than the new bat if it is it won't fit. Also are you able cut the vee in the current bat to get the handle to fit  its probably best  rather than swap handles to make the handle on your current bat oval (there are posts on here stating  what to do)  or get a batmaker to fit you an oval handle to  your current bat rather than attempt to swap handles.

I did it once. Didn't have the right tools and kept having to reshape the handle base to fit the existing v. Ended up with a handle 1/2 shorter lasted about 3 months.

Get a bat maker to fit a new handle and shape it to match the one you like. Handles are the last thing ill mess with on a bat now. You need experience and only bat makers have this. Watching a youtube video or reading a post wont substitute for this. Trust me, don't try it. Pay for it to be done properly or you may wreck your current bat.
