Title: Telegraph - Best Bats of 2015
Post by: justnotcricket86 on July 09, 2015, 08:47:19 AM
Spotted this when I got to work. The usual 'let's pick the most expensive from each range' but all of a sudden, a familiar face made an appearance!

I think they may get a few website hits over the next few days

Surprised to see Woodworm making the cut there!

Might of missed something but they still took the most expensive bats from each range! Seems no logic to me in that selection of bats.

To be honest, I posted it because of spotting Affinity. Didn't really pay much attention to the rest. Especially when the RRP of the Kahuna is £550!

Understand some of the logic but woodworm? It's like alot of these football sites now that just recycle news, they don't really take any care as long as they stick something up.

seems to be a parallel world running outside when someone might read these best bat guides and actually buy something costing £500.00 after reading the advertising blurb.

far better off logging on to the forum here! :)

That's why I could never make money making cricket bats!
I wouldn't be able to sleep if I was selling them at 500quid!!!

How many bat makers on here would be able to make you a bat better than all those in the 8 shown, for a fraction of 500 pounds

Surely bat price is only associated to an ego thing?

Has anyone ever come across a player in their team who has been proud to spend £300+ on a cricket bat?

Although relatively new to CBF it is clear to see that the bats being knocked up here are of a much higher quality than those shown on the link.

Plus, I like the idea of having something different to everyone else on the pitch.

More to the point, how is the price justified? How much does a cleft cost a company? Then how much is the finished article?

There is a massive mark up somewhere in the process? I am sure this has probably been done to death on this forum somewhere.

Top bats clearly not chosen from the selection pictured in the first slide, which includes a Screaming Cat and L&W Signature that get no mention!

No doubt it'll just be someone with zero cricketing experience who has compiled this 'list', always take this sort of thing with a pinch of salt... there's a few in there that are notably the same as last year for gods sake

I often wonder who's actually buying loads of £350-450 GN/GM/Kookaburra bats, I hardly see any, either you don't care and you get you MSR or your 2nd hand warsop off a mate, or you do care and you know enough to go to lesser known brands like on here and pay £250 for an amazing bat without without the £100 added on for the sake of it being "the same one" Joe Root uses. I play in the sticks in staffordshire though, is it a London thing?

£110 MSR white wood pinged for a year no issue, I have no problem with £100 there great maybe a little heavy I like a 2.7/2.8 max I've seen £200 / £250 bats that don't do the job

So spend your money wisely - Kooks £100 are normally pretty good plenty of knots look average play WELL !
