Title: personal medic kit
Post by: suraj1108 on July 13, 2015, 03:00:56 AM
having noticed the past season that only a few in the team carry's their own medic kit; basic's like bandages, cold spray..etc are not in their kit bag. most of them rely on the clubs' medic kit or borrow the required from team members.

does anyone here bring's their own personal medic kit & curious to know what's in....

my medic kit is very basic & consists of;
[1] deep freeze cold spray
[2] deep heat rub
[3] multi sized plasters waterproof & fabric based
[4] scissors
[5] alcohol wipes
[6] ice bag

other than this i seek help from the physio..

Physio? Haha ha. Most teams in the UK won't have one! I carry a personal first aid kit with standard contents, but my experience of cricket first aid is typically that if it isn't a bit of bleeding that needs patching, it usually requires a trip to a&e.

what i meant by physio is our coach who is also a first aid trained; he usually has extras...

Don't know anyone in our league that has a coach either.

We have a first aid kit in the clubs kitchen. But tend to have to scrounge if things happen at any games.

We have a first aid kit in our kitchen but it's lacking somewhat in anything useful

We have the worlds most useless fist aid kit in our clubhouse!
Bandages, plasters, a resuscitation mask thing and if you're lucky there might be an antiseptic wipe in there.

I personally have a few support things (knee, ankle and elbow) some plasters, a bit of deep heat run and a couple of different rolls of tape in my bag, but again that's not much use if anyone has a serious accident.

our club too doesn't seem to bother stocking the basic necessities in times.

Have to add.

After one of our players had a heart attack mid game earlier this year(he's on his way to recovery now). We've added a defibrillators to our kitchen!
Not sure who's been trained to use it though

thank god he's fine.

hats off to your club for adding a defibrillator. our club is very close to a hospital hardly 5 mins drive perhaps thats one reason the cheapo's dont' stock up...

These are worth a look, maybe a bit ott but the bag and contents are very neat and the bag is waterproof which makes the contents safe from wet towels etc. No freeze sprays or heat rub though.

Out of the £1000's worth of kit in my bag, the only thing that I really need in there that is essential to my game is the 80p packet of Ibuprofen in my bag.

I have the following (apologies for the spelling): cushioned tape, elastoplast tape, micropore tape, few plasters, antiseptic wipes, dioralyte, imodium, painkillers, contact lens solution and spare lenses, scissors.

The club have those ice pack things that you burst to activate.

I keep one strip of Ibuprofen for half time cramps/aches if required when we've fielded first and one strip of Codeine for injuries in the "hit in the plums without a box" level of pain. Anything else that I might need is taken from the world's most useless first aid kit in the kitchen.
