Title: Ordering equipment online overseas from Asian based companies...
Post by: TIAANB12 on August 15, 2015, 05:15:02 PM
Hi All,
I am new to the forum and just wanted to ask a quick question :)
Has anybody had trouble not receiving their goods when ordering online from a Asian  based company online??
I ordered a Gray Nicolls Oblivion E41 LE Short Handle from a place called Sportsfunk for only £128 + shipping :o
However after I ordered I looked up for more information about them and found out that the company is based in Singapore ???
Now I am a bit worried that I will not receive my goods :(
I am not against any Asian based companies but the price seems to good to be true :o ;)

I was recently looking at the same company, and so would be interested to hear what everyone has to say.

Yeah I am really very curious about them but could be a great bargain if it all works out.I saw thet are selling Chase, Gray Nicolls and GM top of the range for £148.I have never heard of cricket shops in Singapore ???They are having a huge sale now.But I really don't know anything about them! .

This is also my very first time buying cricket bats online!!I saw that it would cost me less to buy online so I took this chance. The prices here in South Africa  for a good quality bat is outrageous, our local shop is the biggest retailer of all brands in the country and I can't afford any bats here anymore. :(

This looks weird. They are selling all of their bats with more than 50% off the normal price. i reckon that they might have been in the shelf for a long time and will probably be a plank. But i may be wrong.

Singapore you say?
May be a total coincidence, but don't cricmart.in have some connection to Singapore too?
Title: Re: Ordering equipment online overseas from Asian based companies...

Firstly I thought that the company was based in India.
When I paid a email came through that thanked me for shopping at Milandu Sports Company ???
Don't know or never heard of Milandu Sports Company before??
That really made me curious and I did some research of them then found out that they are actually based in Singapore.
And I have never heard of an Asian company stocking Chase equipment before  :o

I am a bit skeptical about their authenticity.

I did ask them for pictures but they said they can't provide one as the bats are shipped directly from their warehouse.

Online retailers selling British products are either made in india under license or just plain old fakes ! If the pricing is too good to be true, then i would stay away from it ...
Title: Re: Ordering equipment online overseas from Asian based companies...
Post by: dougydee on September 01, 2015, 12:55:31 AM
I find it strange that people buy something from a website with almost too good to be true prices, then after the purchase they research the company. Before handing over my hard earned coin I'd do the research first. You still might get burnt but at least it wasn't a total hail mary!
Good luck getting your bat, hope it works out for you.

Title: Re: Ordering equipment online overseas from Asian based companies...

They emailed me on Sunday and said that they are very sorry
about the long wait. They said that the bat will finally arrive this week
if not, they said I should them call then.
Title: Re: Ordering equipment online overseas from Asian based companies...

But I'm still happy. They respond very quickly upon my emails.I really don't care when
the bat would arrive. If it arrives  it would be a huge bargain, so it's worth the wait!! :)

I don't think I would be happy waiting for this long. Also I would be very worried that I am getting story after story. There should be a tracking number and physical proof of the order being posted. I just think there are stringing you along so far.
Title: Re: Ordering equipment online overseas from Asian based companies...

Post by: WalkingWicket37 on September 08, 2015, 06:54:01 PM
That's nearly a month from order to (non) delivery and counting now.

Looking at the site I can't help but notice they stock Puma and Spartan. This always gets me wondering (just search cricket bat stickers on eBay if you're unsure why). I hope it works out for you, but if it was me I'd be starting to think I'd been conned.

I'd be tempted to try a PayPal claim now, as from an outside point of view it looks like a lot of stories and not much service.
Has there a working tracking number sent yet? Have you got the name of an actual person accountable for your order? If no to either of these I'd start the ball rolling on a refund...

Yes I have a tracking number and it actually works. I really believe that the
bat will come. They answer every message very quickly and they keep me updated
with everything. I would let you guys know when it arrives and if it is the real deal!! ;)

+1 It'd be good to have a database of trusted and reliable online retailers.

Try our sponsors....
Title: Re: Ordering equipment online overseas from Asian based companies...
Post by: petehosk on September 09, 2015, 01:08:38 PM
It would be good - but the problem is that one persons experience of an Asian based company may be very different from other peoples experience - you only need look at Amazon reviews to know that even when most give 5 star reviews, there will always be a few that give 1 star due to a bad experience, or a disagreement!! Therefore it is not something that we could really consider on here....you will just have to put up with the mixed reviews and feedback from the forum. Remember that if you had a bad experience from an Asian retailer, they would not have to answer to us, and they would have little to loose from a bad review on here!
Whereas the sponsors on this forum abide by certain guidelines and know that what they offer on here is a superb service, which is why we recommend using them! And this is why we do not really recommend the Asian based companies, as we have no direct dialog with them.

Occasionally the 'owner' of one of the Asian companies will pop up on here, ask everyone to justify telling people "if it looks too good to be true, steer clear" and will then disappear never to be heard from again.

My personal favourite was this PR Masterclass  :D http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=35222.0 (http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=35222.0)

I am honestly an optimistic person naturally......but even I would be surprised if they turn up again with the same name!
Shame really as I would love to see a site offer some mind boggling deals that turn out to be genuine one day, rather than feeling let down by these sites every time!
It would be refreshing!

Another flash in the pan, charging around with his balls out, looking to pick a fight on here, and justify his existance as a genuine supplier of kit and a force for good.

I'd honestly have been really happy if he'd turned out to be the real deal, but once again a damp little internet firework, sputtering out in the gutters of the information super-highway.

Genuinely hope you prove me wrong Dylan - you were very excitable  :D

Have been living and playing in Singapore for a long time. Have never heard of them. And they don't have a store presence either. Am quite wary of places which don't have a return address or a local number.

Has the OP got his order delivered?

I think the reason the shipping is very slow is because they ship it by ship. ( just taking a guess as i don't think that if it was shipped by air it would take this long )

@Topgun so you still think this is a legitimate company? If so, are they based in Singapore? I seriously have my doubts. Luckily PayPal has a 180 day policy to file a claim

@swat I play for CSC. Have seen you carrying the huge aero tour bag (only one in Singapore)

Talk about a slow delivery... If you put that money in a term deposit you could probably have bought a B3 crown!

In all seriousness, it has been at least a month now, looks a bit dodgy.  You would think if this shop were trying to do a runner they wouldn't offer Paypal as a payment option!

Not the brightest con I have ever seen...
