England to bowl first on a green looking deck!
-
good toss to win today.
Siddle to play to, as predicted my me yesterday on twitter...! and the Marsh brothers to swap places again
England unchanged
-
we've had some luck with the tosses this year.
Can't remember last time there was a green track at the Oval, we have turned it round since the Lords road.
Looks like Rashid will have to wait until the UAE tests to play, presuming England still think he's the second spinner by then
-
Makes a change for a test series to have the captains automatically opting to bowl. None of this bat first and spank up 500 on a featherbed and leave the other team chasing the game. Not a forgone conclusion England will bowl Australia out cheaply, or the wicket will flatten out either. Been interesting, English wickets for a change. England haven't had too many issues batting on them either!

exactly, it makes a far more interesting game, we are in England after all, home advantage is big. When we go abroad we have to take whatever is given, the UAE on slow turner ideal for Pakistan or a trampoline at the Gabba or Perth.
Test runs should be hard earned, the cream usually rises to the top in the end.
-
Pathetic decision not to select Patrick Cummins for this Test...I'm a fan of Peter Siddle but looking forward the crop of fast bowlers will be Starc, Hazlewood, Pattinson and Cummins.
-
Broad and Anderson climbing the bowler rankings with their home boosted stats. After the tours of UAE and SA they'll be struggling to anyway near the top of the rankings
-
Looks like Warner has shaved off that dirty sanchez mo, hopefully that'll bring him a few today :)
-
ive got Smith leading runscorer for the series for Australia
Root for England
And Starc leading wicket taker for the series for Australia
Smith 72 behind Rogers - Sort it out
Root - 200 ahead
Starc - 2 ahead of Hazlewood and Lyon - Hazelwood out
Please Steve Smith I want this 500 quid for a new bat !
What you think my chances are lads ?

As a treble?
Middling at best, Roots nailed on, Starc is favourite but you never know, not sure SS will manage 100 runs for the test so you're replying on Rodgers to fail, something he hasn't done very often recently.

Rogers for Australia regal Smith can't bat on green tops
Starc if he can control the swing

Yes done it as a treble.... super annoyed now as my original bet was a four fold with Broad and Rogers in there
Why did i change my mind
-
Looks like Warner's using a far more normal-sized bat today
-
Also Will Gidman appears to be 12th man? Chatting to Mark Wood on the boundary, interesting choice. Stokes bowling a much better length than Broad
-
Better from Aus today looks like you Aussie fans may get to see day 4 of a test match which hasnt happened in a while lol. Would have liked to have seen England play Rashid but understand why they didn't. Really hope Lyth can bat long and bat big and cement the openers place for the winter.
And today unfortunately showed that clarke is a spent force and retiring from test cricket was the right call to make.

Clarkes ovation Very generous and. sporting of England
-
Clarkes ovation Very generous and. sporting of England
Why didn't Rogers get the same ovation?
-
Yeah great respect from England, good too see...
I was wondering why not the same for Rodgers too..
Clarke has been a very good player indeed,he does look like 115 tests have caught up with him now thou
He looks to have barely any movement is his back
-
Why didn't Rogers get the same ovation?
Probably because he has played for 10+ years in the ashes and has been captain for most of that. Unlike Rogers.

Only ponting, border and Waugh have scored more runs for Australia.
The Aussies are pretty ungrateful for what they have had. Much like we are with KP.

Ungrateful? Really buzz. On another note regal Smith looking better

Not sure which aussies are ungrateful; I'm still a big fan of Clarke, the aggressive captaincy has been exciting to watch and his batting has been excellent up until the last year or so. I personally feel that the people who came out and stuck the boot in as soon as he retired aren't representative of most aussie cricket fans, every cricket fan I know thinks he has done great things for rebuilding the australian team after the likes of McGrath, Warne, Hayden, Ponting, Gilly etc. retired.
-
Have always been a fan of Clarke and loved his aggressive captaincy

Never thought I'd read the words England and sporting when talking about cricket in the same sentence

I've always been a fan of his cricket but his bullish on field sledging recently has dimmed the memory of him. Sad end to one of the last remaining top end test batsmen.. Only Sngakarra left now :(
-
Might be wrong but I think Sangakara is on his last test currently-what a superb batsman he has been...there's no danger of him being on the slide, we saw in England he is still top class...
Just as an aside also, on Cricinfo there is an article on his practice regime with Paul Farbrace when he coached SL, and the dedication required to reach that level.
-
And today unfortunately showed that clarke is a spent force and retiring from test cricket was the right call to make.
I am an Englishman, but I sincerely hope Clarke goes out with a big score in the second innings.

Adam Voges gone LBW to Ben Stokes for 76. Ball suddenly swings alarmingly...Stokes seems to have the dark arts under his spell...
Steven Smith gone next ball to Steven Finn...BUT ITS A NO BALL!!!
-
Senior Player seems to have a hard one on Michael Clarke because ladyboy Anderson was put in his place.
Anderson, pretty certain he never went to school, is happy to sledge the opposition but mental midget cries when he's on the receiving end.
-
Steve Finn Amir six inches over the line there... ;)
-
Just had a massive shout of YES!!! Followed by an even bigger NOOOO!!! Finny!!!
So umpires don't bother calling front foot no balls in cricket anymore, square leg could have seen that one!

welcome back Aussie in England, your side in the 5th test have worked out how to play over here and are doing well-well done.
You have been reading the wrong press reports on the Clarke v Anderson broken arm incident.
Jimmy Anderson has not ever mentioned any complaint over that incident, and when questioned has never complained about Clarkes words.
We know he is no angel but you are mistaken if you think he's cried about it-he hasn't.
There's plenty of Aussie batters us English admire, Clarke is a very good player but if you talking about acting all Billy Big Balls on the field that's best left to the real hard men of Australian cricket.
Show me an English cricket fan that does not admire Steve Waugh and i'll show you an English supporter in denial.
Anyway...welcome back.

Let's hope Anderson isn't hiding with a 'side strain' when England rock up in South Africa. Should be fun seeing The South Africans send a few rockets into Anderson's rib cage.

I bet cook wished they'd gone for tea an over earlier.
Ripper from Lyon that. What's odds on him for a five for?

He's even money to be top Australian bowler in this match

Not much happening out there for the seamers!
Maybe Clarke might give it one last twirl tonight as well.

To many umpires now leave it to the technology which means lots of no balls are not called until there's a wicket and Johnson benifits more than most.
-
To many umpires now leave it to the technology which means lots of no balls are not called until there's a wicket and Johnson benifits more than most.
It's a joke, a lot of them aren't even marginal! Can't the 3rd umpire inform the square umpires instantly?'
-

Oh here we go I can't wait to hear how Johnson benefits more than most when it's been England being caught out during this ashes series on more than one occasion. #Seniorplayer dillusional
-
I do believe though that umpires today aren't as skilled as umpires from years gone by.... There is no need for them to hone their skills or even concentrate on the game as hard because they can just go to the 3rd umpire. May has well not have the umpire on field make any decisions at all
-
I lost count while they were playing but when there's over 10 clips of you overstepping the front line when you've only bowled about 5 overs and been called for none of them in your spell so far that's pretty farcial. (Re Johnson)

How many wickets were taken with those so called no balls? And how many did you count for England?
Just goes to show the lack of skill from the umpires
-
Just watched some of the highlights over again and how poor was England with the bat.. Thought it was the Australians batting for them for a minute..
Also how beautiful is Lyon bowling at the moment...
England really need to find a class spin bowler... Let's be honest it's not Ali

Johnson bowling no balls as shown in tv replay clips : 5 overs 10 no balls none called.
Hope that stat helps.

Irritatingly all of Finns balls leading up to his wicket appeared to be legal. A few were very tight though.
-
So Aus have been called for 1 no ball so far and England called for 3.... How many have been missed from both teams? It's not the players fault it's the umpires lack of skills again
-
Definately umpires fault not players.
The section I watched yesterday's my claimed 8 out of 10 balls from Johnson had been no balls.
You may well get your wicket back if out, but do you get your confidence or broken jaw back if you get stung by a bumper from 19yards?
Umpires need to get on it, or a system introduced to detect.
-
@Number4, it's both. Bowlers shouldn't be bowling no balls. Full stop. If they do, every one should be picked up by an umpire and called. Both are at fault. Every ninety mph ball bowled off a shorter distance affects the batsman's ability to judge length and pace.
I liked the TMS suggestion during the Trent bridge test. Move the square leg umpire up square of the bowling wicket to call no balls there, if the on strike umpire really isn't going to call.

Something needs to be done the piece Sky Sports did this morning showed that you couldn't see Finns front foot.

Two club cricketers Wood and Ali have slogged a 50 run partnership. Neither have any real long term Test futures as both are crap.
That said Wood has just pooed himself against Johnson and is out.
-
Johnson gets Ali. 149 all out. Clarke enforced to follow on.

Yes of course it's the bowlers fault for bowling no balls by why aren't umpires calling them anymore? Lack of skill? They rely on the video review way too much

Well quite a few ex test players reckon they will have long test careers they are young in test match terms and still learning.

There was an interesting discussion on this point too. The umpires that Agnew had spoken to stated the following:
The umpires stand further back to give them more time to take evasive action from a straight drive.
As a result of standing back, they have a less clear view of the front line (see Steven Finn comment).
They don't want to be seen to be making mistakes which the video will show, so where it's marginal, they aren't calling. Now that shouldn't stop them doing it on really obvious big ones or warning the bowler if they think he is close.
All in all, what it comes down to is the umpires are afraid of video review on front foot no balls, which is unacceptable.

Wood 10 wickets @ 39
Ali 12 wickets @ 45
Yeah both pathetic.
-
Considering that they are playing in a dominant bowling side with Jimmy and Broady taking big hauls, Wood and Moeen have done well.
It is much harder to get wickets bowling 2nd change/3rd change when your opening bowlers are getting 4-5 in their first spells!
Maybe if Australia could bat longer than 18.3 overs then Wood and Moeen might have got more of a chance...

Australia batted over 100 overs at Lords and Oval. Both occasions Wood and Ali bowled their filth and didn't get the job done.
Don't worry you might've lucked out on your doctored green tops but when you come to Australia Patto/Cummo/Starco will rip you a new one.

They both get to hold the Ashes, whilst Aussie unfortunately look like crap.
Funny story. Heath Davis (ex NZ fast bowler who was actually crap) was told by a batsman that he was bowling pies. In the tea break he went and got a pie and first ball after the break proceeded to bowl an actual pie at the batsman.

How is it ever the bowlers fault that they bowl no balls. They don't know they're no balls until called. Umpires have the sole responsibility to call a legit delivery.

Yeah, a cheap hundred against the powder puff Aussie attack

If this was the last Test for Bell he's luckily managed to end up with an average of 43. Most of his career has been about feasting on the lesser sides like India and Sri Lanka in English conditions. Never had any mental strength.

What a wonderful statement that is!
If it takes no talent to score 9,245 test runs at an average of over 46, with 27 hundreds and 43 fifties (correct as at 8th August 2015) when did you make your international debut? And what's your record like?

Steve Smith leading run scorer with 508 followed by Chris Rodgers with 480

Interesting how both middle orders have been terrible (which is probably the reason why the games have been so short). Australia have missed Haddin and the wagging Aussie tail. England on the other hand have missed Matt Prior (Jos has kept reasonably well but has gone missing with the bat).
Going back to the Root dismissal, how upset is the nana in the background when Starc holds the catch!

-
English hype job Joe Root's stay at the number 1 ranking was short and sweet. 7 Tests away from home will see him back down the rankings yet further.
-
HAHAHAHA!!! Steven Smith bags Alastair Cook for 85. Cook's last chance of a home Ashes 100 is gone.
-
Well what do you know. Australia have yet again failed to finish England off inside three days. Just goes to show what a pile of old sheep droppings they are. I mean, come on guys, Trent Bridge and Edgbaston were both over in three days, and you let this one go into a fourth. Poor show.

Yes and they couldn't wrap the match up even when they catch the ball off the helmet grill which the fielder would have been fully aware of and know it is not out but did they call Bairstow back of course not much the same as when cook was caught with the ball in the sweater for me that's just not cricket.
Still let them enjoy winning a consolation test while the England team celebrate winning the Ashes.

Home ground advantage... ;)
I rest easy on the fact we have the Rugby WC, Bledisloe Cup, Rugby League WC (Basically been owning your league team for a while now). You keep the Netball WC mate, the teams involved in that are worse than the league.
I'm pretty happy with how little old NZ goes on the world stage.

The question is, can Buttler and Ali hang around for long enough tomorrow to let English conditions do their job?

Your a pretty good sporting nation I give you that but let's face it you should have had way more world cups than you do.

To win a world cup you need to play anyone, anywhere at anytime even if they have homeground advantage. That's Australias first wc on home ground

Just doing what broad taught us last time we were in England seniorplayer. Even if you slap it to second slip just stand there and let the umpires decide. Why didn't they review it? We haven't wrapped the match up because your batsmen are digging in and doing well.

The replays were inconclusive at best. And doing a bit of research, Bairstow was dismissed once when caught by Gambhir, off the grill, back in 2012. There was a bit of controversy surrounding that. Bairstow had the best seat in the house on this occasion and if that DID hit the grill, he would have known better this time around and said something.

Bit like England celebrating when we won a single dead rubber for years. 2 decent tracks, 2 aus wins.. 3 v v v v helpful tracks, eng win.. Still, aus have played poorly in those three games and eng bowled well.

Watching Bairstows reaction when he saw the replay on the dressing room balcony pretty certian he didnt realize till then he had been caught off the helmet grill unlike the Aussie who caught it.

Didn't see the incident but seniorplayer, let me get this right, he didn't know the ball hit his grill!? Really

No sorry if what i wrote was not clear the ball hit the short leg fielders grill taking the sting out and dropped into the fielders hands.

I came off the field yesterday due to rain and read the furore surrounding that on Twitter and on the be text app.
I then watched the highlights on sky at 8 and personally thought it was a non incident.
It brushed the grill slightly. Voges may well have known. But Bairstow and the umps were non the wiser and and in the heat of the moment and excitement who knows weather voges forgot that rules or decided to forget that rule!
It really didn't cannon off it obviously imo

Club cricketer Mark Wood LBW to Peter Siddle. 7/221.

The pathetic Jos Buttler chips one to Mitchell Starc at mid off trying to save the match. Moronic batting from another English hype job. 8/223

Buttler giving catches practice. Finn braid and mo not likely to make the rain.

Tim don't worry fella, when the Poms get whitewashed by Pakistan all will be right in the world again.

While I watch how bad England are batting and have batted at points in this series it makes me wonder how poor the Australians have been to have already lost the Ashes.
While there has been some terrible shots, decisions etc making continual, immature, childish comments says a bit more to me about the individual than the people they are describing.

England won after begging for doctored green tops. England's piss poor attack has been shown up at Lords and Oval for having no talent.
-
I rest my case!
God forbid that a home series should try and help the home side.
On a different note, Nevill may make the odd error but his footwork is fantastic behind the sticks! Only going to get better too I imagine.

So England beat your heros with one dead rubber test to play, and you are sore about it?
I would look at your hero's and take your frustration out on them, rather than trying to pohm bash?
There are lots and lots of Ausse failings in these Ashes which you should be addressing rather than telling us how bad the pohms are! Sour grapes, so get over it you idiot!

Completely agree, Nevill could be a top wicket keeper in the next few years. However, his batting isn't as convincing.

Looking back at his trolling now! He is one disrespectful and sour Australian! I was reading his posts and wondered why he hasn't even had a warning yet.
It takes me back to the kind of sledging the Aussies used to do in the 80's which were actually very amusing but would not be acceptable now, as things have moved on and the World is supposed to be a little more PC these days! I wonder if 'AinL' is old school and a throw back to sledging days gone by?

Fluke series win for England and you think you can play cricket...
We know that England have a lot of issues in their game and we are generally hard and critical on our players! But we are complimentary when some of our players perform!
And when they do and we get a disrespectful pohm basher who obviously has issues slating a team that has just beaten his beloved team, then you get what you deserve!
Especially when that some pohm basher needs to really look in his own back yard and see his own teams failings, rather than trying to focus on how weak England are!
And fluke win? That's the 5th fluke win from the last 7 then! England must be the flukiest team around to have more Ashes that an undertakers!!!

Some really sour grapes on here for this final test match which in all honesty has been dead rubber since Trent Bridge.
Funny how the Aussies can sit on here and criticise the English players. I must get a set of the rose tinted specs.
Please do tell me how good Clarke has been this series? and how has chopping and changing the team worked out for you? Watson... very impressive! I can see why you rested Siddle absolute waste of a player :D
In all honesty this has been a poor test series with some very small sparks of good cricket, there hasn't been any brilliant cricket and in all honesty each test has been decided by one team's inability to bat in an innings.
The most entertaining part of this Ashes has been the Australians on this forum crying over spilt milk

Coward Broad cleaned up by Siddle. 9/263

Come on Aussies. Wrap this dead rubber up so England can celebrate getting the little urn and I can go about my day!
Your taking to long to get our clubbies out.

Love watching moeen bat!

Peter Siddle erases the hapless Ali. England 286 all out. Siddle 4/35.
3/2 series defeat...still isn't as humiliating as a 5/0 whitewash.

Better take back your 'doctored' pitches comment then because by your own justification the sun makes the difference. Therefore because England has less sun, the pitches will not be fast. This pitches are the fault of the geographical location.
-
As Lehmann said:
"Full credit to England - they won the key moments in this series, they outplayed us. We had four of the five top wicket-takers and three of the four top run-scorers, but we didn't win the key moments. It was an unbelievable series."
If you don't win with those stats then you've been outplayed. Simple.
I dare say that in the UAE we will struggle in as it's totally different. Still, just goes to show that in the majority of test series played now, home advantage is what makes the difference, whether that is pitch, crowd or both.

Nice to see our joe celebrating wearing his player of the series medal.

Agree Tim,home advantage is big these days.we do indeed go to the uae as second favourities, well beaten last time and we will need to play very very well to get a draw.
We have however bizzare the games were, got the ashes back and means a huge amount.no one really thought we could although some predicted a close series if the wickets did a bit.
Have to say i think the aussies shot themselves in the foot with team selections.
For that they only have themselves to blame.
Had some of their batsmen taken a leaf out of rodgers book they would still have the urn as they have firepower in the bowling and a better spinner than us
Thats how i saw the series

Well done England. Now I'm looking forward to the fresh, new team to be announced, hopefully we look to the future and get some youngsters. I will say one thing though, I think root is a class player but needs to prove himself internationaly. All the great players have. The majority of the pitches around are not green top featherbeds.

Well done England on another Ashes victory at home. That is four in a row now I think ?
Overall it was not the greatest but still pretty enjoyable series to watch. We got 5 tests with a result and no draws/wash outs.It would have been nice for it to be 2-2 and the 5th to decide but it didn't occur.
In hindsight, Australia made some errors in selection and mentality. Not learning the conditions with bat and ball and trying to use tactics suited to Australian conditions. Very suspect middle order.
England probably have similar problems with their middle order. Bell seems to have lost all confidence in his batting ( which is a shame because he is so easy on the eye when in form). Stokes only had an average series with the bat and that crucial 5th or 6th batting spot can't be filled. Also, a stable opening partner for Cook would be nice.
Although probably not the best player for the series, but I think England won with Broad's 8 wicket innings. The three previous tests were won by the team batting first ( I think) and something incredibly good was needed to change that. 8/15 or whatever it was will do.
England would be wise to keep this series in the back of their minds when picking/training for the next Ashes in Australia. Pick bowlers and batsman for the conditions.
Sad that the Ashes is over, but thankful I can get my sleeping patten back to normal now.
-
a balanced view on the series
and spot on....
well done Reds! :)
-
"Bowlers win you matches. Batsmen decide by how much".
Broad has done it again.
2009 - the match winning spell at The Oval.
2013 - 11 wicket haul at the Riverside ground.
2015 - 8/15 at Trent Bridge
That is three crucial times he has got it right when most needed.

Not to mention the Broad and Ali batting partnerships - an undervalued part of England's success. Not bad for someone derided for backing away to square leg and someone who apparently couldn't play the short ball.

Without a doubt England against the Black Caps played attacking cricket equally matched by an excellent NZ team playing cricket in the right Sprite led by Mccullum who for me is the best Captain in world cricket. Also an opportunity was missed as NZ should have be given more than two tests.

Broad is still bad at batting but not as bad as he was. Mo is still terrible vs the short ball! Did you not see him get badged several times a game ??? (I think he had one game when it was a featherbed when he was able to hit with impunity but anything with life in and he was screwed, good luck mo in Sa and Aus. Take a few new helmets fella). He's not good enough for test cricket (as a batsmen), and isn't a good spinner so yes, he's a cracking 8/9 but it does t mean he's any good! And certainly is taking up an actual spinners spot

Although correct he's young in test match terms and still learning hes okay as a no 8 or 9 and 2nd spin option.
-
I can't possibly see why people are still against Moeen Ali - third highest England run scorer and joint second highest England wicket taker, is that not enough?!?
-
Possibly worth mentioning than Moeen's bowling return was better than Ashley Giles in 2005 (2 more wickets) at the same sort of average and that he only took 2 less wickets than Swann did in 2012.
The key difference is the 4.5 runs per over issue that he has - but you have to remember batsmen these days are far more aggressive to take on a spinner than at any time in cricket history. Comparing Ali to Giles is a much more reasonable comparison and he is a far far better batsman.
-

I don't think people are against his performances as such, it's more the thinking behind his selection that does it for me, he's performed pretty well you can't argue that but in my opinion (not that it means much!) he's not the best spinner in the country and if he's batting at 8 that says to me that the selectors don't think he's one of the best middle order batsmen in the country either so I'm just not 100% convinced he should be in the test side. I think Rashid is the better spinner (I know not everyone agrees!) and think he is probably capable of scoring close to as many runs at 8 as Moeen.
Just my two pence :) to sum up I like Moeen I just like Rashid a little bit more haha
-

It's a fair comparison - Ali clearly the better player so far
Don't forget what Swann's bowling was like originally too, he wasn't a world beater at first...

I'm massively bias anyway (Worcester born and bred!) but personally I just don't like Rashid - his attitude always seems pretty poor and I'm not convinced by his bowling at all
Saying that he'll probably go and get a shedload of wickets in the UAE now :-[
-
Just to add to my last post, I personally wouldn't necessarily have a problem with Moeen batting up the order primarily as a batsman but also as a 2nd spin option if the pitch was turning but I think Rashid deserves a go as the main test spinner.
-

To be fair being northern I probably have a slight bias to players from Yorkshire and Durham :) In the UAE I'd like Rashid at 8 as main spinner and Moeen perhaps at 5 with Bairstow/Buttler as keeper at 7. Gets the two spinners in without weakening the batting. I know some may say drop your seaming all rounder and use Moeen at 6 as a spinning all rounder but once again as a northerner I can't drop Stokes :D
-
I personally like Moeen, and think he'll do better than Rashid in the UAE, purely because Rashid bowls too slowly. If we saw anything last time England went to the UAE, he faster your spinner bowls, the better they do there, as the pitches do seem to facilitate quick turn. Ajmal was all over England (some of the was down to him throwing it enormously) but a fair bit of it was down to the pace he bowled.
Ali is learning quickly, and has picked up plenty of wickets without really playing on any spin friendly surfaces, and hence he's gotten his wickets through the length he's bowled and a small amount of turn.
-

Cant see Ajmal being as much of a threat now he has to bowl legally and good point about Ali's pace, he looks like he is improving as a spinner and it's an ABSOLUTE luxury having him bat at 8 this summer
Really....he's a key part of us and a vital player, can't believe his place ever gets questioned.
He may open in the UAE if we don't stick with Lyth or pick Hales but long term will be a very good middle order player.

This - and I will point you back to my suggested team for the UAE...
Cook, Hales, Root, Davies (ok I get that Taylor may be next in line), Ali, Stokes, Buttler, Ansari, Rashid, Broad, Anderson.
Masses of batting, three seamers and three spinners - all who do different things. We need Ansari as the dot ball bowler to the extravagance of Rashid or Ali.

That's an interesting line up Buzz, I like the inclusion of Ansari he looks like becoming a really good player with both bat and ball. I think Taylor has to be next in line for whichever upper middle order place becomes available whether he bats 3 and Root 4 or vice versa. I worry about Hales though, there's no doubting his ball striking ability which will be great on the UAE slow low pitches but will he cope with Steyn et al on quick SA pitches? Although to be fair, will anyone else who partners Cook!
-
Bits and pieces players like Ali, Stokes and Rashid will get exposed in the Middle East. Pakistan might not have Ajmal or Rehman anymore, but England can't play spin for toffee. So Pakistan will pick 2/3 decent spinners and skittle England every time. Ali and Rashid will be buffet bowling for batsmen like Younus and Misbah.

it's all a bit Glenn Mcgrath 5-0 :)

Bowling average of 40+ And getting smashed around at 4/5 runs per over. That Buzz is Stokes the buffet bowler.

you might want to watch him bowling at trent bridge again then.
Also, he has had more catches dropped of his bowling this summer than all the other bowlers combined.
Or perhaps this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBN1Qb851yo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBN1Qb851yo)
he is a better bowler now than then too.

Not sure how many people will agree with me, but I'm not putting Ben Stokes in the bits and pieces category - he has test class performances with both bat and ball under his belt already, and is only getting better.

I would still take Stokes over Marsh/Watson/whatever other current Australian all rounders you've got to offer every single day of the week..... and twice on Sundays!
He took 6fer at Sydney as well, doctored green top though I would imagine.

Stokes is a wild slugger with the bat, hence why his average is a mediocre 31. His bowling turns up once in a blue moon and hence he averages 40.

I agree with you Johnny.
has this forum been infected with some sort of strange mind bending drugs?

I do, if that's any consolation haha
I'd consider taking Wood, Finn and Woakes, would be tempted to rest Broad and Anderson (Anderson more so).

we are all clubbing together for your air fare back to Australia, I've been there I known it's better than the UK
the weather is better, the women can carry you home when you've had one too many, the beaches are nice and you got koalas and kangaroos.
