Title: Cricmart.in - Trustworthy?..
Post by: Bowlers Name Please on August 26, 2015, 01:05:31 PM
Cricmart.in just starting following me on Instagram which got me looking at their website. I've noticed that they've got the new New Balance bats on there for what appears to be a bargain price of £79 for the 580+ model amongst others!

Has anyone had dealing with them before? I've tried searching the forum but it's not revealed many topics about them. Is it a case of too good to be true?

Yes - very trustworthy. Swat is fantastic to deal with. My TON Player Edition was sent on a Monday and got to me on a Thursday!

Were there any custom or import duties @nwillam12 ?

For any natural timbre product i.e. cricket bat, the returns will be solely on Cricmart discretion. Due to the nature of cricket, most companies do not allow us to return the item unless it is in original condition. Cricmart will try and help our customer wherever possible but with no guarantees. We advice all our customer to knock in your bat before you use it, especially areas like edges and toe as these are the most common areas to break.

Just a reminder of their 'returns' policy.

Basically, if it breaks, tough tits.

That is a bit off putting.

I understand Jake's stance on a business model that's competing directly with him - on some levels anyway - but sometimes it's hard to resist something that's so much cheaper, on some of their bats you could buy a replacement or two and still not be out of pocket compared to the UK RRP.

Whether products for the Indian market are of poorer quality I don't know, and i guess only the guys who have bough both can comment on.

It's a gamble isn't it. That's all.

Do you want to play a game?

Spend a 100 on a bat. You may get a good one that last a good few seasons and it's a bargain to be had. Woohoo cricket rules.

But
If it breaks and you have no comeback as cricket refuses to refund/replace. You've lost your gamble.

Not a gambling man?
Buy from vitas, pay an extra few quid for the same thing, but you know that if it breaks or develops an issue, you got a good lad to drop back on and help you replace the bat when it does.

I have bought from cricmart and they are trustworthy. The only drawback is unreturnable or unexchangebale but most people take it as a gamble:)
For sure the south asian bats handles are of very poor quality. Just knocked in three SS bats where handle on couple flexes like a bitch whereas the handle on Laver & Wood is quite firm. More money need to be poured to change the handles.

Personally speaking, I would put in the extra 20 odd bucks and get a X3 from Red Ink.

They are excellent. Got 3 bats so far, 1 was returned as it didnt meet my needs. The return process was hassle free.
Very prompt with replies and offers great service at par with the best.

Cricmart are great.
Swat's customer service is great, delivery was fast (3 days!) and my bat is great.
The bat exceeded expectations and I'd have paid double for it in UK.
Bought some gloves in a separate transaction and the result was the same.
Big thumbs up from me

Agreed. Customer service and selection during purchase time is great. They have some of the best SS/TON bats at hard to beat prices.
Its the post purchase service that one may not get from cricmart and one of the reason being is just to send a bat back to India is expensive. One of the TON gusty i bought broke after first usage but i didn't receive any customer service/refund for that.

its about 25 Dollars to USA from India and takes about 7 to 8 days. It should be less than 25 dollars to UK I assume.

Its about £20 for delivery to the UK which is a flat rate so you can get a few things and knocks the postage per item down. If you want a bag it was £50 for delivery so I decided against that.

Swat was really helpful when I bought a bat from him a couple of months ago. Sent lots of pictures of the model I was after (Master 5000) and was quick to reply when I had a question. The bat itself is playing nicely now ive knocked it it. I did spend quite a few hours doing it and still knock for the odd 10 mins here and there but the ping is lovely.

Delivery for mine took a couple of weeks but I think they were waiting for one of the items to come back in stock. The gloves are excellent, especially if your of a small mens disposition such as myself.

Bought some pads as well but they were slightly too big for my hobbit legs, sold them to a mate who absolutely loves them.

Confirmed in an email from New Balance today, Cricmart are not a New Balance account, meaning the bats come from the grey market, hence the inability to assist customers with any sort of after sales, returns etc when things go wrong.

Not wanting to seem spiteful here, but having raised the issue with little success in private, and with no-one else willing to speak up, i feel i must comment.
Cricmart are not a sponsor of the forum, yet it seems a number of members are aware of them and aware of the member here on the forum associated with the business, who in my opinion clearly engages in pm selling. All of these things mean i regard them as fair game for detailed scrutiny, and I definitely feel that potential customers should be aware of the fact that they are not an official New Balance stockist.

We all know that cricket bats are a natural product, and it is inevitable that some bats that are sold will break, I don't know what the industry percentage is but I would suspect it is higher than many people think. As a genuine retailer, we work with the suppliers to rectify this situation whenever it happens to a customer. All warranty period repairs are free of charge and if a bat is beyond repair it will be replaced FOC. This isn't the case with Cricmart according to their returns policy and the experience mentioned by @i12breakfree - so if a number of people purchase a bat from Cricmart, it is inevitable that one or more of those people will be hung out to dry, essentially throwing their money into the fire.

Going to lock this topic now - Personally I totally support Jake's view and should emphasis that the sponsors on this forum undergo a fair amount of checking and due diligence before they are accepted onto the boards.
