Title: weight increase
Post by: Danny1981 on August 26, 2015, 03:04:17 PM
Last night I was going through my bag at bats I am going to keep and ones I am going to sell. I decided I would take edge measurements and weights now if I am to put them on ebay. To my shock the ss bat I have been using for 80% of the season has increased quite dramatically . In April it was 2lb 10.5.Last night when I weighed it on the same scales I previously used it was 2lb 13.9.Throughout the season I obviously have not noticed this gaining but when I got my old gray nicolls carbo out which hasn't seen a ball all summer and still weighs 2lb 10 the difference in feel is amazing to say they both felt the same in my hands. Is there anything I can do over the winter to try and dry it out without over drying it?

the SS bat will of been dried to an inch of its life when making it so not surprising it absorbs moisture like a man in the Sahara who has just found a sand dune that serves cold Carlsberg.

if you want to dry out the SS again a day or two in the airing cupboard will work

I wouldn't personally with my own bats but people do. give it some linseed oil if you do that after

Like others on here I've put bats in the airing cupboard when the central heating as been on but the willow can dry very quickly.
