So after the shoulder snapped on my (ancient) Newbery Mjolnir SPS I saw the Red Ink sale and gave John an email with my specs and budget etc. I got it last week and could not be happier! From the initial contact and customer service right through to the bat itself I was really impressed.
So the bat:
I asked for a mid-low middle in 2.12 with little concaving and good pickup, I'm more concerned with performance than looks so was more than happy to choose a butterfly from the clefts offered and by all means this still looks a beaut. I was after a shape pretty similar to a previous Red Ink X3 I had seen on the forum a while ago. John managed to make a low-ish middled bat at 2.12 that easily feels about 2.10 when picked up and that is very responsive to both the mallet and an old ball. Also, and maybe the pictures won't do it justice but it looks huge!
So here it is:

The face on that is almost perfect! 8 straight grains with the character of the butterfly! Can't beat it.

Glad you are happy with it. Love making this shape and that cleft was great to work with. Pretty perfect butterfly cleft I think

John, I know I said it before but I really am pleased and the finishing is superb. For the price this is an absolute steal too! Basically anyone who is undecided on a Red Ink…GET ONE!

Not sure mate will have to look. Think I have one more butterfly left but can't remember what it's like

I'd never had one before, simply because I didn't know what they were before this forum. Don't understand why people don't consider them but each to their own I suppose.
