Hi Guys,
So I'm looking at coming over to England next year to play for a season and was thinking of getting a couple of well made custom bats to bring back to Australia. In saying that, if I could have 2 or 3 bats for around or less than £350 what would they be?
Cheers.

@Red Ink Cricket not @Ryan may be able to sort you out two g1s or atleast 1 g1 and a g2 at that price?
Same for @vitas who can source similar though hunts.
Or all could get 3 G3s in that budget
-
Sorry, should have clarified smiley, I mean around £350 each. Not all together.
-
Fair enough.
B3, affinity, even gray nics(ish via vitas) and a whole heap of people can do them at that price. The world or England, is your oyster!!
-
I guess it's always good to have options! I also would love to go and be able to talk to the batmaker and see it made in front of me. I had this experience with Julian at screaming cat and it is by far the best bat that I have ever owned! Also makes it a bit easier to make sure that the bat performs well and is the right weight I guess.

H4L, B3, Salix, M&H
-
Would definitely recommend B3. It's a great option to be able to go down and meet them in person and get a bat made to your exact specs. Everyone I've owned from them has been fantastic. With a budget of £350 each I'm sure you'll find some amazing sticks while you're over here. Happy hunting!
-
Do you mean 350 AUD or 350GBP? (350 AUD exchanges to around 160 GBP)
-
Sorry wasn't very clear there, I mean 350 GBP. I have heard good things about B3, just slightly worried about their pressing. But I'm open minded and they are certainly in the running.
-
£350 each I would personally visit Salix although I am biased, all fully handmade and made by a true great of pod shaving, if your more modern minded and want every aspect made to the exact mm then B3 are probably your best bet. The other mentioned in this thread Ryan Makes a stunning bat though as well just much newer to the pod shaving world. As has been said in UK you will have loads of choice I guess it also depends where in UK your planning to play.

I guess it depends where you will be based in England and where you can travel to as there are a few Batmakers who will allow you to go and select a cleft and shape a bat in your presence ther are also batmakers who manufacture there own handles which for me a quality handle is as much a priority as the cleft.
-
There are several visits you could make - my preference would be Salix, although as people have said already B3, plus a couple of dozen other makers could be a great experience as well!!! And it is very clear that everyone has their own favourite and therefore you will not get ne definitive answer to your question.
So I would see who your favourite is, and which batmaker would get you the most excited to visit?
If you are looking for 2 or 3 bats for around £1000, then you have al the choice you could dream of!
So I would recommend that if you are playing some cricket over here next season, you are no doubt over here for a few months or longer? And that is plenty of time to take a look around, look at teammates bats, look at bats of people you play against, and speak to them about their bats. But most importantly just take your time to choose!
However, if you already know the profile that suits you game best, or have a trusted bat that you love and would like copied, then you could do a lot worse than Affinity, Red Ink, etc!

Pressing not an issue I've ever had with b3.

Preparation is everything........ I rarely knock bats in for long either. Haha

That bloke Tim Keeley, who makes bats for Newbery, he is supposed to be ok at making a bat.
A number of the sponsors can help you out with a custom Newbery.
Just a thought.
-
Do H4L do custom mades on their devil range?
-
i have had look around and I was thinking that If i had to use only one brand for everything including bat, pads and gloves. Which brand would you guys recommend out of B3, Chase, and salix? I know that they all custom make which is a reason that I am trying to choose between these three.
-
I would go for H4L. They do everything including there own plantation. Never heard a bad word about them and if your into awards they are consistantly in the top 10

Salix hands down on my experiences with those brands.
-
Surely the bats are all of a comparable level aren't they? I think the softs from Salix may be slightly better than that from H4l and B3 however? Have you guys had an experience with this as we dont get many of these brands in Aus.
-
The world is your oyster, if it were my money I'd take the opportunity to get bats from the very best batmakers around, judged by a proven track record, that should shrink your list a bit.

Many? We dont get sh*t here in Australia, at least where i live in XD

I have a couple of B3 Bespoke bats and I can't fault either of them. Excellent profiles, great pickup and most important of all very good performance. I would have no hesitation in recommending them if you have the money to splash.

Paul Aldred
Paul will make the bat in front of you from a cleft you've chosen.
Top top bloke who makes world class bats with the added perspective of an ex county player
