Title: B3 butterfly after 1400 runs.
Post by: smilley792 on September 23, 2015, 11:56:31 AM
So this is my b3, bought at the begging of 2014 season.

I scored 500 runs with it that year.
A player returning from a 2 year holiday in aus asked if he could borrow a bat, I gave him this. He netted all winter and scored 900 runs this year.

And this is how it now looks on its return.

Wonder what it will look like once the tape is off.

A refurb is long over due! Hopefully it can be saved and he doesn't need to borrow another bat next season!

The big straight vertical crack on the right straight down the grains..my TON bat has something similar. I have the scuff sheet on at the moment. The performance is still good but I am worried about the crack...is that bad for the bat? does anyone know?

Usually it is a sign that it is opening up and becoming all that it will ever be. Has the performance improved since the crack appeared? You will have to post photos.
Take the scuff sheet off and have a look. If it appears loose inject some glue in, clamp it down and reapply a new scuff sheet.

Must have impressed some. Teammates just dropped this abused bat off for a refurb.

Can you tell the repair willow came from a highly bleached kookaburra??

Repairs and sanding finished. Just gone a lair of wax.

(http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h76/smilley792/07A3DDFA-1017-476E-86E6-8F71618869FE_zpsbijqh1mx.jpg) (http://s61.photobucket.com/user/smilley792/media/07A3DDFA-1017-476E-86E6-8F71618869FE_zpsbijqh1mx.jpg.html)

Once that's had time to settle will add a second lair with a polishing da. And then it's new grip and scuff sheet time.

And final wax/polishing stage done.

Got a decent shine on it.

It's not great and have plenty of room for improvement, but it's better than millichamps finishing........
