Title: 6th October - Visting Salix
Post by: Vitas Cricket on October 05, 2015, 12:56:40 PM
We are off to visit Salix tomorrow to pick our willow for 2016 stock.

This will be our fist visit having successfully stocked a small amount of gear at the tail end of the 2015 season, we will be seeing the whole setup, tour of the workshop etc, i'm very excited to see true hand-making in action somewhere new.

I'm not entirely sure, but i believe we are likely to be choosing from clefts and part mades, rather than finished bats. This means the customer can have a lot more input on their bat if they want us to choose one for them.

I know it is quite short notice, but for anyone looking to secure a 2016 Salix from one of the earliest retailers to visit, please do get in contact and we can discuss pricing etc.

Here are a few photos of our time with Salix, who were fantastic hosts. We picked out lots of very nice bats, as one of the first retailers to visit, there was loads of great willow to choose from.

It was great to see such a meticulous and detailed process when it comes to crafting a bat, i've been to many batmakers, and whilst I am always impressed by someone who can make a bat from start to finish, Salix take so much pride in their work and it really shows in the end product.

Is the torque the only shorter blade / longer handle bat in their lineup? Fair to say that the shorter blade makes them the same length as CA bats?

Not many, we did stock them years ago but being UK made they work out fairly pricey and warranty work is always a hassle, I am personally a big fan though.

If you get any of those spirals in maroon would you keep me a couple? Think they'd look smart on my GP274!

What's the heaviest/biggest Salix you've got?
