Post by: GoldenArm on October 06, 2015, 08:49:35 AM
Hi all, thinking about getting one of these pairs:

and just wondered firstly how people who own them had got on with them, practically are they decent? Good design and fit well?how is the quality? And secondly where is the best/cheapest place to get hold of them? BAS or the TON ones do you reckon? For my money the TON ones look better made. Cheers.

I used the ton pads for a season before selling them on to a team mate. They were really comfy and really like the two strap design. Only reason I changed was that they were too small for me as I had the regular men's and I'm 6'3".

I bought the Ton pair from Jake vitas a few years ago. Very good quality, only downside for me is as thery are moulded there's no flexibility in them.

I'm presuming the ton ones are very similar to the GM rsb(Ravi singh bopara)

I really like the GM ones, comfortable, light and good protection. They wrap round well too.

What are the Morrant ones like, I see Dhoni uses them as well as the little master?

Hmm yeah the lack of flexibility could get annoying. Don't want to go out there feeling like I've got a couple of canoes strapped to my legs. I am keen on those BAS ones though, just love that vampire bat branding! I see DKP stock them, reliable seller?

DKP is a very reliable seller. I've used Nick for cricket gear many times.

Hi, just wondering if you got a pair in the end and what you think of them? Currently looking at both pairs myself :)

I had a pair of those GM RSBs, can't say I was a big fan to be honest. They didn't really go with the curve of my leg like most pads do.

I really want the bas pads to spray paint blue for t20. If Amla uses them they must be good

I have been using two strap pads for the last few seasons and now cannot use three strap ones at all. For some reason they seem to hinder my running. Is this a "getting used to another strap" thing or something of a strong preference that you cannot get over.

There are very few options in the two strap variety and most are not very streamline at all as they are usually ambidexterous. I currently use the SS Millineum pro - which are light weight but has a larger footprint.

Thinking about Puma Evospeed SL:

Any experience/feedback with these pads or any others in the two strap variety appreciated.

Haven't got these but wear two strap puma calibres, also had two strap puma stormtroopers before and the Pumas I've had have always been of great quality. Looking to get these pads if they ever get down to the £60 mark

Ravi's recent injury is discussed on another thread.

@d7bow - Thanks for your feedback on Puma. Yes, the evoSpeed are a little too expensive for my game. But, may have to bite for the lack of other options.

tried the Ravi bop ones and A&R and slazengers. Never really got on with them. all seamed a bit clumsy too me. Then I got sledged by a 15 year old Wkt "storm trooper pads what a dick" Thanks punk. Happy with my great white shark pads now. Tried loads. B3 fantastic but too big, Warsop are nice but still bulky. My Ravi's are on the Bay if anyone is a fan.

I feel that somebody is gonna complain about your state of mind after changing pads because of a fifteen year olds sledge

If the Puma 3 strap version is of any interest I saw this a while back.

http://www.prodirectcricket.com/Products/Puma-Calibre-6000-Mens-Batting-Pad-RH-Cricket-Batting-Equipment-White-Lime-Punch-Vivid-Blue-30277.aspx (http://www.prodirectcricket.com/Products/Puma-Calibre-6000-Mens-Batting-Pad-RH-Cricket-Batting-Equipment-White-Lime-Punch-Vivid-Blue-30277.aspx)

The price seemed quite good as compared to the current 2 strap model of similar shape. Not sure about the level of protection offered as compared to the newer version.

Wonder whether these are RH or ambidextrous.

RH

Received the pads from PDC a few days back and they are actually ambidextrous. Took a risk as I am LH but pretty relieved now. Hopefully well worth the price I had paid (GBP 43.33 net of UK VAT + about GBP 21/- shipping)
