Hey everyone,
I've just bought a GM maxi off eBay in an attempt to give a project in the off season. After peeling back the antiscuff this is what I found. I know that the surface cracks aren't a big issue but what about the bits on the edges.
Any advice on what to do would be appreciated.

I don't think they look to bad I would put a little bit of pva glue in and clamp then new sheet on be good as new

What kind of clamp? This is my first attempt and only thought it would be a simple sand and oil!

You can sand and oil but to make sure I would you put a bit of glue in the cracks and you can put a g camp or a vice clamp or even twine to keep pressure on the repaire

You'd be amazed at how much better they can look from a sand in the first place. I would suggest trying that and if after they still look like they need attention follow the advice above. I bought a metal g clamp from ebay (experience with the plastic ones was not great).
We are in the process of moving and we'll have a garage in the new place, looking forward to having a proper bench with vice for refurbs (i'll also be very close to @hell4leather cricket which is nice!)

Looking at the photos I don't think there a need to use glue and a clamp just hand sand with 240 grit paper upwards as each higher grit paper you use will remove the marks left by The previous grit until you get the finish required.

If it were me i'd inject some PVA into the cracks and leave 24 hours to make sure it dries properly.
No need to clamp those as they havent moved out of their position, but if they do wobble you could use parcel tape to "clamp" it.
Once the glue is dry remove any tape (if applied) and start sanding. I personally start with a 120 grit, then work my way up the grades to 400. After a final sanding with the 400 I then appky bat wax and give ithe bat a buff to give the bat a nice finish

I concur with walkingwicket. hOwever, I would use masking tape and only sand upto 240 grit.
If you want to use a clamp I would advise an F clamp. Get one at a car boot sale.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Once I sanded it down they looked a lot better and @WalkingWicket37 they did not move pics of what I've done to follow...

We are buying a house in shadoxhurst, so 15 mins or so away from you?
