I was thinking bargains to be had, then I watched this video:-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhrWu2RKLgs (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhrWu2RKLgs)
I should of put this in the ebay tat section! Some bats are very overpriced for used non M&H sticks - even with stickers attached. Good luck to them if they sell, I imagine some will buy them for the stickers/name alone.
-
£150 for a storm damaged Size 4 bat, bargain!
-
They really do try taking the mickey don't they. Lost all respect for them

That's awful!!
-
not sure i would describe any of those bats as a bargain.
-
I got 1.30 in. Awful ssalesmansship. Awful pricess.
-
Who on earth thought that was good enough to upload? All the swaying and jumping around, it was like being out at sea!
-
Absolute rip off for kids bats. Arrogant fool in the video too
-
Who is that bloke? And how do we know what bats all the refurbed ones were originally. He's a right dry lunch that bloke. Prices are stupid
-
I must say that it was an eye opener!
-
How old is that GM they're trying to flog for £50?!? I'm speechless after watching this. the prices are extortionate for junior bats and the level of professionalism from the guy effectively fronting the company is like watching someone's out takes from their work experience week. Unreal.
-
So, trade in your old tired bat and M&H will give you £100 off their over inflated prices. M&H will then give your bat a quick clean up, stick some new stickers on and charge way over the odds for something without a warranty.
Am I missing something, are we all meant to be mugs?

Whenever I've been in there he's been behind the counter and he's about as welcoming as a cold cup of tea. Makes zero effort to chat to you and just tends to be very stand offish, you feel like you're walking into some high end London clothes shop where they make you feel all the stuff is too good for you to wear or afford.
-
I don't get angry much in life but that is a (No Swearing Please) discrace. I hope people see M&H for what they are, overpriced money grabbers looking to make a quick buck.
-

I loved the comment about putting it up on the wall if it doesn't sell by the end of half term though!
-
Fortunately for M&H there are enough chinless wonders in Somerset who still believe an M&H is the pinnacle of cricket bat making. All the spoilts kids at Kings, queens and Taunton school have them and they think they are the bees knees. I see them and think that a fool and his money are easily parted. All the gear, no idea.
Starting to really resent M&H's attitude, particularly towards junior cricketers. Make it affordable for kids.
-
Does anyone else feel like the GM smacks of a bet the lads are having in the workshop? I bet I can cam get fifty notes for this! Haha. It's really worrying to see stuff like this, ruining a brand that deserves better.
-
The logic is probably £40 for a refurb + a bit of profit = £50.
-
I am totally and utterly turned off m&h now they're just a bunch of knob jockey's

By doing things like this video, in my eyes, this is what the brand has become, soulless, money grabbing and patronising. It's a shame that this is what the M&H brand has come to because I used to hold it in high esteem as a traditional, back to the roots kind of brand. I think it's obvious to see that that is not the case any longer.
Or as @lazza32 put it, knob jockeys.

April Fools surely......
-
He says "no warranty" like it's a selling point. Terrible.
-
Surely they can't sell that SS as an SS? I thought they had to be branded as TON in the UK?
-
I have been struggling for a while to think of a non-nasty way to say what I think about MH and their customer service and then this video comes along.
-

I believe due to copyright they have to be sold as TON in the UK by retailers, but anyone can buy what they like from where they like. So, as it's a part exchange from a customer I'm guessing this would be classes as a private sale, meaning anything goes.
You'd be amazed just how many SS/TON bats are sold under another brand anyway...
-
lots of negatives on this thread, and it's easy to understand why.The only thing I would add is they know their market, they cater for that market, and they have been successful doing it.

I think that was the point I made in my original post. They wouldn't sell them for that money if they couldn't. Must be some rich email list though!

i can't believe how often he uses the word bargain and doesn't start laughing.
i agree with the comment about what they are like in the shop. last summer i walked in wanting to look at the t1 pads because i saw some pics on line and wanted a closer look. the way they spoke to me made me feel like i was trying to steal the stuff from them rather then somebody who was interested in actually buying stuff. they didnt realise the other customer they were talking to was my Dad as we went in the shop at seperate times
-
"Storm damage. 150 pounds. No guarantee...bargain" hahaha
-
For once , words fail me!

For the price of a size 4, storm damaged, no warranty bat. You can get a custom bat in full size with warranty from aldred or red ink
What a bargain!

I heard a rumour that m&h are opening another unit up north in burnley!!!
-
Looks like they've taken it down, shame as I wanted to watch that.

You haven't really missed much... Just a load of refurbished non M&H bats with no warranty selling for a ridiculous price. I guess M&H got the message, hence taking down the video.

Yeah so I understand, I wanted a good laugh!

whilst I did source a bat from the clearance bin last year, an unwarranted storm damaged new M&H SH bat which turned out to be a good if risky buy (which I would consider repeating), the refurbed bats were another matter entirely. There was no way of knowing what the original bat actually was and I was quite disappointed that M&H felt the need to sell such articles at those prices.
As for the video, at least Dick Turpin wore a mask.
-
This really hasn't been a good week for M & H on here has it!! So they obviously have someone who comes on this forum regularly enough to pick up on something like this...care to comment mystery lurker?
-
Or they have sold them all?? ;)
-
Or they have sold them all?? ;)
Doubt it, seen a couple of them in there months ago.
I've had 3 or 4 of their bats over the years and while they performed well, the finishing wasn't the best. Couple this with the substantial price increases I won't be buying one again, there's much better value elsewhere.

My comment was very much tongue in cheek
