So in keeping with the ethos of this forum I had been thinking about buying another bat that I didn't really need (and my skill level doesn't justify). Then last week @cnew alerted us to the eBay Facebook discount and it would have been rude not to make use of that (thanks mate).
After a little search I found some Aldred's on the SQ-Sports eBay page. I have wanted one of Pauls sticks for a while now (almost bought one from @horseman the other day), so having checked a couple of things with the guys at SQ I ordered a grade 2 Spectre which was in the price range I was thinking about. I then decided it might be nice to have some Aldred gloves to go with it so asked about adding these to the order. One thing led to another and before I knew it we were discussing a deal to upgrade to a Players Spectre and gloves........
So I am now the proud owner of this beautiful stick and a cracking pair of gloves - a little more than I had planned to spend, but it was too good a deal to miss. I may now have to sell my nearly new SS Master 7000, or a kidney, before the wife sees the credit card statement :(
The specs:
🔹 8 even and straight grains, no heartwood.
🔹 Weight - 2. 10.5 (lovely balance and pick up)
🔹 Edges - 36mm
🔹 Spine - circa 62/65mm
The bat has been in the shop since the start of the year so it feels a little rough/dry and there were some black marks on the scuff sheet which you can see in the pictures. Will be giving it some tlc to get it back to the condition Paul finishes them to, may also remove the scuff so I can oil the face.
Taps up pretty well and looking forward to knocking it in. Here's some piccies.

I should also add that the guys at SQ were great to deal with, responded to emails promptly and dispatched the kit quickly.
I also asked Paul some questions about caring for his bats and found him so friendly and happy to help. Look forward to buying from him directly one day.

Paul's bats are so good and so well finished I bought a second in Butterfly to prolong the life of the first. Love the Spectre and the Velocity shapes. Up there with the Amplus. I too enjoyed his lair.
