Title: Salix players grade question
Post by: brokenbat on November 04, 2015, 08:25:51 PM
Friend of mine just received a Torque Players (which I may buy off him) from ProDirect. Contrary to what it says on their website, the bat is "workshop prepared" (whereas the website says the Players grade should "natural finish"). Cause for concern? Could it actually be a  grade 1, mislabelled as Players?

Have his bat in my hands now (go ahead, make *that* joke ;). Figured I post some pics, as well as initial thoughts.

Face - grains look very decent.

profile - looks pretty standard, but a bit surprised at the level of concaving for a bat that is supposed to be "fuller in the back"

Toe profile - now here is the really surprising bit. Seems like one side is bigger than the other! I know hand made bats can see some variation, but if Mr. AJK is the best of the best, I wouldn't expect to see this...especially in their players grade.

Other than that, finishing is good (albeit slightly ruined by the scuff sheet!), and ping is decent.

Wrong...it also makes you a real player. That's why it's called "players grade". It's just science.

Retailers and customers can request their Salix bats to be finished however they like in terms of factory fitted toe guards/scuff sheets etc.
