So I've been thinking about getting a bat from either one of these 2 master pod shavers.
Was wondering on who do you guys think is better? Screaming cat is about $200 USD more compared to Robert's Blue Room.
Comparing their top end bats and both grade their willow on performance.

Nether had a Robert pack bat, so my opinion is biased.
GET A SCAT ! best bat i had, even though it lasted 6 games !
Make sure if you do get one, be gentle with it, not take it out the box and welly it :|
-
um... Thats a little troublesome pay all that money and it last 6 games? On top of that its still $200 more.. I mean Robert in his own rights is a pretty special bat maker so $200 more for Julian seems a little crazy..
To be honest I'm leaning towards Robert cause of the price and 1 can probably argue he is one of the top podshavers in the world currently..
So unless someone convinces me to justify the $200 more I don't think I will..
But I've played with neither and making my decision on prices as both are special bat makers IMO..

I have seen Roberts works first hand and it is superb and his customer service is second to none. His priceing is superb he did a custom made bat to a friends specifications delivered to my friends front door for a hundred and fifty pounds and the bat was amazing massive profile but super light. So i would say go with Mr Pack. Julian Millichamp makes superb bats but they are very expensive!!! When your oredering a custom made bat there are a few master bat makers to consider!! You have James Laver (Laver And WOOD), Gary at Red Back, SAF San Andreas Fault), Robert Pack, and they all make superb bats as they can't afford to make a bad one, as word soon gets out and people will stop buying them. They will make a bat for you a lot cheaper and of a superior quality than any you can buy of the shelf for the same price. Though i have to say the bats i have seen on the forum made by Roger at Solitaire look lovely and have got some rave reviews. Though if you live in Australia you must have some good small bat makers out there? Look around talk to guys at your local club you might find someone local who can make you a beauty.

PS i have played with a Robert pack bat and they are really good !!! But we had a penine cricket bat in the office a Pen-y-ghent and its a diamond !!!! Lovely light pick up massive edges goes like a gun!!! So you don't always have to go for the expensive custom amde you can get good of the shelf bats!!!
-
go for a bat from julian ,think you'll find robert pack doesn't do a lot of making more finishing.
-
If your budget is such that you can afford a Screaming Cat, then go with it! Julian is pure genius! And you will get a bat made by the same maker who has made bats from some of the best batsmen ever!
But if you budget isn't quite as good, then go with Robert?
-
You could have put a load of bat makers on that list - it is a no brainer, Julian all the way.
-
The budget can always stretch to get Julian's.. ;D
But my understanding was that Robert designs and makes bats for all Puma sponsored players. I love the Iridium profile which he designed..
Is Julian that much better? Does anyone know what the difference is between the Premium and Professional grades?
-
Yes Julian is one of the best
-
ever thought about another bat maker?
u havent mentioned Warsop . . .
-
If you have the money for a screaming cat, you'd be mad not to get one ;)

Warsop won't ship to the US!!! >:(
Something about their warranty issue..

So I've been in communication with Rob about my bat and have asked him many questions.
Here are a few things which might help everyone.
Rob does finish Puma bats as a part of his contract but thats because it would be nearly impossible to hand make the amount of bats which Puma requires.
However he does design and hand makes bats for Puma and his own Blue Room brand. There are certain people who require only hand made bats from Puma which are made by him. He has designed bats such as Octane, Stealth, Evolution & Iridium for Puma. He also makes bats for the Puma contracted players.
He learned most of his skills from Bernie Facer (Double B bat-makers - now with Hawk).
At the end of the day Julian and Rob are both amazing bat makers but for me I will be getting a bat from Rob since I love the Iridium Profile. Plus a person who has designed so many great profiles and is trusted by Puma to be their head bat maker and makes bats for professional players will surely make an amazing bat.

Get someone in england to buy it for you, then you pay them for the bat plus shipping ?

Just thought I'd post this up. Stickers look ok.
-
Nice wave themed range, the stickers look like a bit like a distorted version of Solitaire.
-
I don't think I've ever heard his name mentioned on here before. Bats look cool (not sure about the decals though) and are priced quite well.
-
Rob is a great guy to work with, he didn't get his new labels in on time so I went with Mike.. My next bat will be from Rob and a Joker.. :D
-
D'oh! Another batmaker to add to the list!

We have had a few Robert Pack bats come through here and had a few lads get their Puma Bats refurbished by him and they all come back like brand new. His Customer service is superb and second to none!! And i think you will find he designed the Puma Iridium as if i remember correctly he is Pumas chief bat maker and head of production P.S he is a super bloke too!!
