Evening chaps,
I was thinking today whilst rolling up a mile of water pipe in the wet muddy farming world, what i'd give for it to be summer again!
and with that some season targets for myself, thus leading to this topic:
My targets are to:
Take 50+ wickets across all cricket, preferably more on a saturday than sunday!
Grab myself a couple of michelle pfeiffer's
Get my first ever ton, and a couple of 50's
and make a good impression at my new club!
Other peoples would be great

100 run aggregate for the season
At least one score of 20 plus
More wickets than matches played
Economy less than 6rpo
Bowling average off less than 100
-
Take 5 wickets
One score of 20
Run out via directly hitting the stumps
Fairly reasonable considering my awful standard.
-
Score more runs than byes I concede.
-
get 50 wickets across all cricket
get my first 5-fer (after getting 3 4-fers last season)
get a 50
-
Less ducks than scoring innings
Double figure average
10 catches
Get my hands safe enough to be considered for 2nd slip or gully
Get to at least second change bowling
-
400 runs for the season
At least 2 innings that are 50+
-
1000 Saturday league runs
10 50's 1 100 in the league
3 stone of weight off by April
Not bowling a ball all season
Keep to 2020 retirement at 32
Play in 2 2 day games and bat for a whole day at least once
Dint be out caught, stumped or run out (when it's my fault) once as they are poor poor dismissals
-
Last year I had 12 scores between 0-9. If I can halve that and get more scores in 30 plus then I'll be very happy.
-
Score a fifty. Made 48 and was run out by my partner last season. Could nearly be sick everytime i think about it haha. Another 5 wicket bag to go with my 6 for a couple of seasons ago.
-
Get a ton on a chuffing Saturday!!
-
500 league runs and 15+wickets
-
Get into Loughborough MCCU :)
-
Well...having had an 'annus horribilis' to quote the Queen(!) in 2015 i have some major work to do:
One-quality practice starting with the CBF net in hampshire next saturday
Two-get my opening spot back after slipping so far down im with the bowlers
Three-get some runs in the league
About 300 saturday runs would be good and another 200 on sundays
So 400-500 runs.
But as far as targets go first is to get more practice and work out if its just a bad season or i need some help(technique)
:)

More dismissals, missed about 5 glaring stumping chances this year, some were genuinely awful! Still claimed over 50 victims but would like to reduce the number of cock ups
Another ton would be nice, but my first two innings were 50's this year, and my only other 50+ score in approx 60 games was my late season 162 not out, so I would like to have another good start but build on it.
Win another midweek T20 cup. Pink balls, flashing bails, large midweek crowds, beers, bbq, music/PA - it's great fun.
This was my first season of senior cricket where (despite being a wicket keeper and a terrible bowler when on tour or a very occasional Sunday) I failed to take a wicket. Need to put that right in 2016
-
Score at least one 50
Bat further up the order
Bowl more consistently
Improve the back of hand slow ball
More than 1 five-for
-
Be able to see my feet

You miss a stumping off me and there will be all sorts of trouble @Vitas Cricket , I'm still on angry terms with a young keeper at the old club who missed a stumping which cost 100 runs......

At least 3 50s. Over 400 runs in the season and continue my catching form in the outfield.
-
Nail down a consistent role in the team after being messed around batting/bowling all over the place for the last two seasons
Train hard and improve my bowling action to regain some lost top-end pace
700 runs in all cricket (realistic aim after 530 last year from mixed season), ton up, see more knocks through to the end
40 wickets in all cricket (40 last year but league rule changes mean less overs this year so tough target. Settle for keeping strike rate under 20 and average around the same as my 13 for the last two seasons since moving clubs)
Go undefeated as midweek captain.
-
1000 League runs, win a few cups, teams more than capable just under performed a little when its counted in recent years.
Start bowling a bit more again even if its in cup games.
500+ runs for University, couple of trophies would be nice as well!
-
Firstly decide where I'm going to play cricket,
750 runs for the season as I my play every other weekend now, 25 dismissals
2 league hundreds to make up for last season being my first in ages without a TON
-
First job is to sort a bat, and then not to break it.
First time this winter I've finally got to the gym, so hopefully I can hit the ball a little harder and fit in my whites?
Will try and be not out a little more,(I throw my wicket away way to easily)
Ultimately I want 1000 league runs, not bothered about 50,s or tons, but would like to put the team in a position that I can score a few early and retire and let the rest of the team have a bat.( most teams struggle to score much over 150 to our bowling)

Well I'm moving to the USA so my first target is to find a club and see what the standard is out there, I'm hoping it'll be poor enough for me to be able to play!!!
After that try and get some runs and turn myself into a top class off spinner -for top class read 'no more than 2 full tosses and 2 long hops per over'. The catching could also do with a bit of help, I'm pretty good at the reflex catching close in but under a high ball with time to think I'm probably 50/50.
Is it really only November
:(
PS - thanks to @i12breakfree for the info about the USA and the kind offer of help.

'no more than 2 full tosses and 2 long hops per over' makes you eligible for England right now!

If you're a middle order player you'll get to open the batting too as the spinning all rounder! ;)

Change of target:
By the end of the season I'm going to be just as good as Ali - getting out cheaply at the top of the order and bowling dross that somehow gets wickets on English pitches

1. Be fitter to play better cricket.
2. Score 2 50s
3. Score 300 runs in the season
4. Prove to myself that I can play 2nd XI cricket
