Has anyone ever seen a mallet like this? I have had it for many years and acquired it from my old Saturday club's kit bag when the club folded.
I guess the mallet is from the 1920s.
The head is very hard and measures 3 and a quarter inches (about 82mm). I don't know which wood it is made from, maybe mahogany. With the handle the length is 19 inches.
I think it is a cane handle.
I am knocking in my Bradbury bat with it at the moment.
Sorry, I don't know how to insert images or use the insert hyperlink so am pasting the urls for the photos.

Uh it just looks like someone stuck the knob off a bannister onto a piece of garden cane mate!! Don't think it's an antique mallet though I may be wrong!

Sorry, I don't like being called mate.
I couldn't find this when I posted the photos but have just done another search.

Well I certainly won't be referring to you as mate again! 😰 Yeesh.

I know you meant to be friendly and sorry my reply was a bit abrupt.
I should have said I prefer not to be called mate, put it down to my age.

No worries, purely force of habit. I almost wrote mate again then. It's a disease. Looks like it is an old school mallet then. Bet you get some vibrations through that thing though, ouch!

Out of interest, are there any other variants of 'mate' you don't mind being called? e.g. 'Mush' or 'me ol' mukka' or 'pal'
