Title: Couch to 5k
Post by: FattusCattus on November 16, 2015, 09:57:40 PM
Has anyone done this? (I think @ppccopener has) - is it any good?

If you have, does anyone have a link the a printable version of the definitive plan - as when you google it a number of different websites come up, and my peanut brain is getting a little confused!

Believe it or not, I actually did a half marathon earlier this year (Hackney) and as you can tell from my petite figure I obviously kept the running up...

Albeit the run was as the result of a terrible drunken Friday night bet, but it did happen! The couch to 5k thing certainly works- I just used the NHS site to start with:

There are a number of good apps for it.

yeeeeeeeeeees - 'apps'. I'm afraid I am a dinosaur and prefer to read things off bits of paper.

However, I do have a smart phone, so I shall attempt to press a few buttons.

I started with an app. Easter Monday this year. I remember being desperate for the 2mins run to end so I could walk when I started, but it really worked. Used the Fitness22 app.

Ran my first 5k in May, do a parkrun every week (see if there is one near you) and a couple of other runs. Ran my first 10k trail "race" a couple of weeks ago and did 8 miles this morning. Aiming for a half in April. It works!

I am comfortably built....

My first 5k run is this Saturday. As practice I have run 5k couple of times in last two weeks. I do wish to run a 1/2 marathon next year. My only fear is knee injury and I have to loose weight to prevent that.
