Nice collection ... Was curious about GM Apex and Epic bats. Never managed to find any background info on these bats ...

nice on Tom

you can see the difference in shapes come in when they started to use the DXM process as not much concaving before that as most bats were full bootied

Hero 909 still one of the best bats I have ever used

i still maintain you need a bit of booty in your bat!

You need a bit of booty in all aspects of life

Everyone needs some curvy Beyoncé-esk booty in their bats, and in most other aspects! Hubba-Hubba!

Thanks for posting, interesting look back. Bats look so small from 2004! Forgot how much I liked the original Flare+, never seen a Zona in the flesh, anyone try it? Any good?

The Zona is ok - concentrated swell! Still have it as it's fun in the nets! And my Flare is still in one of my trunks. Prefer the Flare to the Zona as I prefer that profile.

It's a very out there profile for gm, can see it being fun!

I still love the Epic profile. I never liked the orange stickers - but it is a great shape.

Superb.

I currently bat in the 2007 Purist Originals, they've lasted me 3 seasons so far.
Previously I had a pair that lasted me 5 seasons, again 2007 Purist Originals.
I'm netting in 2006 Purist Originals.
And in reserve a pair of 2007 Catalyst Originals.

They don't make em like they used to!

Perfect timing. I saw an 'Icon F2' in a shop the other day and really liked the look and balance of it. I note from these catalogues it must have been 2014 and not 2015 (only f4.5 and f7 seem to have been made in 2015). The ping with a mallet was not as good as some other GMs in the same shop (2015 and '16 models). This seems to tie up with a few forumites experiences with less consistency in pressing before 2015.

Thanks,

David

I like the zona!!!

Speaking off.

What would a modern zona look like. Larger edges and the hump made to a max 80-85mm spine height????

Sorry Smilley and Streaky,

I'm just being silly ;-) .  Both the Zona and Luna grabbed my attention and were outside the square designs that showcased the DXM CNC capabilities, not unlike last seasons Sigma.

Not sure the middles on either were substantial. Picked up a Luna and it was very light. Zona was canned in a magazine review, but I like anything different.

The only Luna I can recall waving round felt like a railway sleeper on a handle.
The zone was ahead of it's time I feel, but the not too dissimilar Purist F2 didn't exactly fly off the shelves either...

I miss my Maxi LE now! I always wanted a 2010 Flare, too. One of best looking bats I can remember.

I managed to pick up a Maxi Original from 2006/07 for £150 back in 2011, which I still use today. It's the heaviest I've got so I use it in T20 games mostly. I did pick a Mogul 808 last year but I wasn't overly impressed with it, just feels a bit flimsy and weak to be honest.

I'll definitely be having a look at the new Maxi for 2016, just to see what it's like really.

Oh man that's made me remember my Maxi LE I had back in the day, that thing felt like it was made outta bolsa wood given how big it was and how little is seemed to weigh.

Got rid of it far too soon, what a mistake that was
