One for the bat makers out there, I prefer shorter blade and standard handle combinations. My bat has just been refurbed and had a longer handle put in...I forgot to mention it ???
Question is, would cutting the knob off the end of the handle to make it shorter and then sanding and taping the end make it weaker in any way ? I think many of us have seen the picture of jayawardene cutting his but just curious before I experiment as bat is 2 years old and breaking up so don't see the need to get a new standard one put in
Thanks

I do it all the time. You won't even need to sand / tape anything at the end. Just make sure you go straight down while cutting (so you're not left with an angled top!). You don't even need a heavy duty saw - I use the mini saw in my swiss army knife. Cane is very soft and easy to cut through.

No it will not make the bat or handle weaker i always cut off 1 inch off all my non custom made bats to stop the handle tucking me up if you do shorten the handle first tape the binding to just below where you are going to cut to prevent it fraying.
Depending on how much you cur off the handle may alter the leverage slightly.

I also have done this on many bats. I tend to use electrical tape or magnetic tape to create a counter balance to cancel out the weight lost and recreate the 'Bob' as I like to feel that so I know where to put my hands

Super short handle gray nics. Top itch of the "knob" has been cut off.
