Title: What's all that about?
Post by: play-yourself-in on December 04, 2015, 08:37:14 AM
I was watching some highlights of the India v SA test and Rahane (while making a terrific hundred) was wearing SG pads, BAS gloves and using a Nike bat....he must be loaded with all those separate contracts!!!!!

Nike don't make softs, so he is using a sponsored bat but is free to use whatever softs he prefers (I guess).
That, or he is sponsored separately to use the bat, the pads and the gloves by each manufacturer. If that is the case he may well earn a few bob through it

Nike don't make bats either, it will be an SG, SS or some other companies bat re-stickered with the Nike logo. A lot of the Indian team use the BAS style gloves, take Kohli as they are clearly BAS gloves but with an MRF logo on them to satisfy the sponsors.

Okay I'll rephrase.
Nike don't sell softs with their logo on, but the do sell bats branded as their own.

A few of the Indian players had a mix of kit...I assumed they had the old school kit bag in the changing room that everyone dips into circa 1994.  I never understood why there were boxes in there, I mean at least buy your own box!!!
