anwar ali pakistani under 19 1st ball inside edge for four bearing in mind i was on the back foot after seeing him pin our overseas then second ball i was batiing about 9 stumps outisde leg to let him clean me up !
-
faced a bowler this which was low 80's and smacked him for 4 off a half volley next ball was a bouncer which saw after it had passed the keeper for 4 byes plus faced an aussie u19 other season but only couple of balls thankfully as he was even quicker and broke one of our batsmens jaw( that will teach him to wear a helmet)and faced a 99mph ball in net as old coach was nuts
-
I faced a 99mph ball in the nets out of the bowling machine, needless to say i didn't see a thing!!!
-
Ant Bullick, he is our overseas player. He plays for Otago in NZ.
Being tall, he gets alot of bounce.
The ball he launched down at me got clocked at 81mph...
Got a bat too it, then i "mysteriously" got cramp so decided to go do weight training ahaha :D

-
Stomach cramps??? :-P
I dont care what cramp it was, F**k was i going to face more than one ball from him
-
some dude who was at county trials last year, he won the ecb under 17's speed stars competition, got clocked at 84mph at lords with stuart broad.....
also faced 99mph on the bowling machine..... faced 88mph for about a 20 min session quite comfortably, but no short balls!
-
in our 1's last year played the local west indies team, there opener lost a yard of pace when I came in. first ball played the shot as the keeper took it. Second plum LBW. Team mates say he was 75-80 MPH
-
lol i'm guessing bristol west indians? we're playing them this year, scared!
-
No Phoenix WI. I haven't played Bristol WI I don't think.
-
ahh fair enough, they were relegated from prem 2 to our division for this year...
-
what league are you in? And what team do you play for Ian? :)
-
wepl-bristol and somerset. minehead cc
-

-

THANK GOD
-
oh forgot to add, my club has signed an queensland under 19 bowler for next season. my mate is out in aus with him now and apparantly he is rapid! will look forward to the net sessions on the artificial pre-season....!
-
lol our overseas player is indian and he's pretty quick
-
Kevin McClean
Raw pace
http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/content/player/340317.html (http://www.cricinfo.com/ci/content/player/340317.html)
he went to my school , graduated the year after I came, so did Chris Jordan
but Korn is such a good bowler and a good guy. I really look up to him
-
The side i played for in Aus had an opening bowler who bowled at late 140k's. Faced him on two seperate occasions in nets. (artificial mat on top of concrete) he was quick, never ducked before in my life until then. Played him hurridly but didnt get out and drove him out the net a couple of times. He was a wild fella aswell and had been known to beem the odd person!!!
-
For me it has to be a called James Fraser who played a few matches for somerset 2's and i think he might have made one or two first team appearances, he was a quick left armer who said he got clocked at 89mph, but probably bowled low 80's in the nets at uni.
-
Ive faced Kabir Ali in a match. He was rocketing it past my earholes to say the least. Played and missed a fewtimes but generally got the better of him on that day, then got clean bowled by a pea rolling leggy at the other end!
-

i faced him too :) luckily he'd lost some pace when i came in too. Made 24 notout though so was pleased haha
-
I was fine against everyone else, just giving my partner strike then I faced 2 balls from him :L
-
haha yeah they got a few shockin bowlers and a few great ones. odd but very funny bunch!
-
who u play for peplow?
-
Old Down :D
colesy your indian overseas isnt that quick, just seems it because he's a lefty and its different to what people are used to. MOre awquard than quick i found. That guy that plays for ym is quicker imo, rich williams i think (am i wrong tom??) he's sharp and apparently used to be quite rapid!
-
he was injured when we played you second time round ;)
-
Bola Bowling Machine
-
batted against this guy couple of weeks ago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsYAu9lFjto
how fast do you rekon he is?
-
between 68-74 mph as a very rough guess - nice action as well.
-
bah is that it? that must make me very very slow then! :p
-
not really - alot of county medium-fast bowlers bowl around 77-82mph so i wouldnt say that makes you very slow - it's all about practice, practice, practice!!!
-
by the way that is my guess - he may bowl 60mph or he may be 80mph (unlikely though :D)
-
Allan Donald Rishton pro not nice when your 15 jason gillespie when your 17 and i tell you what possible on his day when he bowled seam up Micheal Bevan could get the ball through at a fair rate but in my opinion the quickest bowl i have ever faced and people will slate me was Phil Simmons he just came off a short run it wizzed past me all i herd was the seam.
most horrible bowler ever a bloke called Chris Killan South Aust was as quick as anything and pissed to and Jo Angle used to be about 7ft tall and around 85mph mark not easy at all
-
ben phillips will be playing 8-9 games for us this year, i am actually looking forward to nets! (if he comes :P)
-
who were you playing for Dave when you played against those guys ? must have been some experience.
-
lancashire league days in the 90's
quickest bowler i have seen was a pumped up Hartley Alleyne he was real nasty good job i was only watching that i think i was in the stiffs but i remember him running in from the sitescreen hurting people
in the days before all year round international cricket the league was a who who know it not the same best proffesional i have ever seen in league cricket was
roger harper
-
Who did you play for in Lancashire Dave. That is meant to be the best league in the country with top pros playing in it.
Played against plenty of quicks. A West Indian named Andy Iffel, last bowler to take 100 wickets in a season in the old Somerset League.
More recently played against Taunton St Andrews and they had Mark Turner who was slippery !! 90mph
-
so far my clubs in lancashire have been
colne
horwich rmi
earby
it was a good standard but after playing down your way and in Middlesex i have noticed a diffrence in the wickets down south the best league i think in England is probably the Liverpool Comp but i sure many on here will have much to say about that.
-
Fattuscattus/Talisman in nets 2 weeks ago when I had to deploy the patented edge it and duck shot
-
That was when I sconned you wasn't it?
Done 'im for pace!
-
Sounds dangerous SAF, not ventured to nets myself yet. Light is not great and too many young teraways wanting to knock yer head off !!
A few then Dave - who did you play for last season, was that in Lancashire ? Do you have any contacts up there ? know anyone who might be looking for sponsorship ?
-

I think everyone got me out but I'm nice like that, should do it again soon you didn't find the sesmic gap often enough!
PS: did your parcel turn up?
-
Parcel turned up thanks -goods are applied, and I'm gripping them as we speak!
I'm only doing that net again if I can get right proper pissed with you and the hairy farmer + others afterwards.
I'm booking a room at that Travelodge and I'm going to get right proper trousered after we've displayed our skills.
Surely this is the way forwad?
-
Excuse me a sec for going off topic once again - Great whose turn is it to be Max Recoil?
-
Fastest bowlers I've faced.
Imran Ali Pasha and a guy called Aizaz Cheema, both played locally, both absolutely rapid.
Managed to face both of them without getting out too! Ali bounced me though, I nicked it onto my helmet and cleared the slips!
Just checked them out on google
Cheema

Ali

Both were electric TBH, though I'm playing the Division above them now, so don't have to deal with them. However no doubt there'll be more in this league!

been clocked at 89mph I read somewhere. I faced him in his second spell which was quick enough but the guys who faced the new ball hardly saw anything of it.
-
who did makay play for he must have had a good season
-
Arbroath, He's on the same agents website this year so it's bout to have his figures.
Thats one thing about playing in Scotland, despite the standard being pretty average there's been some excellant pro's as plenty of clubs have alot of cash to splash, played against some top top players over the last few years, all of whom were wasting there time playing against the likes of me!!
EDIT-played 18 games, scored 331 at 25 and took 29 at 18.
-
i know that feeling kulli
-
i know that feeling kulli
That said my finest ever cricketing moment was bowling Matt Horne through the gate with a jaffa (we'll ignore the fact he's already cracked 70 odd).
-
Shane Harwood
Dirk Nannes
Charl Langeveldt
Strange really, as Harwood made a big name for himself in the league and took 100 wickets in the season. First game I faced him I did ok, played his bouncers pretty well, and got behind he ball alright - shared a pretty decent partnership with our pro, where all I did was hold up an end.
In the return fixture I didn't fair so well, including ducking into the first ball (which apparently was no where near as short as I thought)
Nannes was an unknown at the time, and although he gave me a bit of a hurry up I wouldn't have thought he was a 90mph bowler.
I guess Langevelt isn't really considered express pace, though he was nippy enough for league cricket.
-
faced some asian lad from Ealing CC about 5 years ago who was clocked around 75-80, had few problems with him because the track was very low and slow. Played against a lad who plays for Netherton in the Leeds West Riding - 6'8 and bowling 75mph + with no sightscreen, didn't last to long.Faced Jamie Bovill of Hampshire fame when he was starting out, probably bowled touching 80mph, unusual action and got alot of bounce.
More interesting collection is the guys I have played with. A guy called Aubrey Martyn, he toured with SA in 1995? but broke down through injury but they reckon he was quicker than Donald. The season before he played at my club and took 19 wickets in the final 2 league matches. Keeper was halfway to the boundary - seriously quick. A lad I developed through our 3rd XI when I was captain, called Tom Hampton is on Middlesex's books. Played with him in a Presidents game last year and he had to be taken off after 2 overs as neither the batsman or slips were quick enough to react!. The batters where guys who regularly faced 75-80mph bowlers but judging how far back the slips where and how fast the edges where reaching the boundary he must of been bowling 85-90mph.
-
was facing front foot 93mph earlier today and was ok, then cranked it back abit shorter, shat myself, and was just trying to duck away and praying
-
Lol 75 is my limit! :L
-
at 93 i couldnt get out the way if it was coming at me, just was lucky. no idea how the pros do it!
-
i am a 200mph+ bowler
-
only if you sat in a bugatti veron...
