Title: My new B3 small edge Warner profile.
Post by: smilley792 on December 11, 2015, 09:57:56 PM
So order the new b3 Warner thin edge profile. Wanted it from moment I saw it. It is a profile similar to what I wanted for a long time(before b3 did oversized clefts)
Similar to what I had red ink make me, although that cleft(I supplied) was heavy so needed a lot of concaving.
This has non.

A video

Not took many pictures as lighting in my house is poor so have a lot of cbA.

Pros.

White stickers are amazing.
Pick up is superb( @jamferg can confirm as he was at b3 when I collected)
Ping is good, toe is a little dead but it's quite thin(not the worse toe I have)
Finishing is excellent, not sure if they changed there process but this is the best finished b3 I've had.

So far it looks like it may be as good as if not better than my previous mullanator.

Unsures

Handle has rubber inserts, my old b3s all have cork and I for some reason have preferred the bats feel with cork over rubber. But once I start using it will confirm if it really matters.

Cons.

Heartwood is on wrong side.
Distinct lack of bow(handle has been set forward to compensate, but I like bow).

Tomorrow I'm at a bowling machine, this and my h4l will be getting a work out, so I shall see how they go.

A touch thicker on the shoulder and toe and this would be perfect! What weight is this one?

You mean the nemesis?

Looks very very nice.

I'm sure it will go very well for you. Interested how you get on with the handle being set more forward and being of rubber inserts.

Also just out of curiosity, did B3 mention the density for the cleft?

@Chad  and @SOULMAN1012

I agree, if I was to pay the extra and have my own bespoke it'd be similar but maybe a thicker toe. But as this is kinda an off the shelf design, I'm happy with how it came.

Weight I don't know, I asked for 2.13/14 and it feels good and in my useable range, so haven't felt the urge to put it on the scales yet.

@sanredrose in the pic it's a 4star nemesis bought from vitas. But in the video there's the Warner, the nemesis, a scoop and a maverick in the collection behind.
I like gray nicolls.

@Jaffa nope, I don't worry about such things, I told streaky I wanted this shape, and in what weight, and he sent me clefts that suit. So unfortunately don't have that info.

I've bought one of these as well, most likely made the same time as yours. Other than getting it out of the box I haven't really had a chance to look at it but first impressions was that it was smaller than I was expecting. Not spine wise but overall.

I'm not sure I have any issues with its size. Photo img it next to the warner doesn't help, but in terms of other bats it's still a big piece of wood.

Off topic, but anyone used a moisture metre on bats? I have a pin type one, and although I'm not willing to hammer it into a bat, surface reading suggest the Warner and b3 are similar moisture.
Other bats I have struggle to register!

Very nice bat Chris a Australian member ordered something a bit similar maybe a tad higher spine and higher shoulders and slightly bigger toe but as Chris has said this is his design

They both look very tempting. Very Laver like to my eye.

With a 386 cleft what was the final weight Dave? Is that 'just' an oversized cleft or was it also a supersized(?) one?

More boring as videos.

Only did one session as its a little hard in places, particularly the toe and can feel it through the handle.
Will do a bit more mallet work before applying a scuff for the next net.

It feels lovely out of the Middle.

@procricket B3

I presume the bat on the left would be available at a series price now Dave?

My B3s are the same on the toe. Vibration cured by a second grip. It think it reduces as the bat plays in. At least you know its pressed.
