Hi there, just want to share my first ever laver and wood reserve bat Custom made to my specifications. Weighs 2'13 with full profile.
Had asked for a willow that did not have any blemishes or knots and hard wood...but there are bunch of marks on the bat with little heartwood to the right handers inside edge...
Thought of returning it but the ping was AWESOME for me to keep it :)....posting one picture now..will try to upload more...(Updated the post with all teh pictures :) )

Was the bat knocked by L&W ?
-

@Centurian ..Nothing wrong mate..I had specifically asked for a willow that did not have any blemishes or heartwood...As I unpacked it and saw blemishes and heartwood, I was little disappointed..But after I pinged the ball I was well satisfied :D
Well by the way stickers and the grip were my choice ;)
-
That's gonna ping like a very pingy thing!
There's a lot of wood in the right places there, stunning
-
Lovely looking stick.

If it had normal stickers then you wouldn't see the top blemish. I would encourage everyone to ask laver for some options to choose from. Then you know exactly what your getting.
Saying that I would be very happy with that and as always I know it will score millions of runs. Good luck.

I've just replaced my lavers green shield stickers with the retro ones - really suit a grainy blade.
Cracking looking profile - what handle did you pick?
-
Really nice profile and good looking bat. I can understand if you asked for super clean willow and got this, it does add to some disappointment. But as long as the ping is desirable you should be happy :)
Transparent stickers also lead to more willow being exposed.
Enjoy your new bat.

Looks lovely to me. Not keen on these stickers tho. I presume it's 'reserve' grade?
-
It's called heartwood, not hard wood! Bat looks lovely.

I hadn't even noticed that in the first post. Perhaps this is what caused the confusion and instructions not being followed 100%
Speaking of heartwood and hard wood...
That bat looks beautiful, lovely grains and heartwood on the edge I like it. If I received a bat that looked like that there's no doubt I'd get hard wood :D

Lovely bat Jonty.
As a side note, a bespoke bat maker that does not deliver EXACTLY what you have requested, and paid for, annoys the daylights out of me. It's happened to me on numerous occasions from various companies.

I agree and stopped ordering custom bats. Buy the one which i can see, in flesh or pics.

I Picked the round handle...
and thanks for the correction of heart from hard :D
-
By handle I think he means the several special handles laver offers, not the shape of the handle.
Bat looks spot on to me.
Also what grade is it?
If you paid big money for a signature then be pissed,
but if people(I'm talking in general) are paying for g2/3 bats, I'm not sure it's the custom bat makers fault if it has blemishes. Don't be cheeky and expect a fully clean blemish free bat at a lower price point.
Shape, mid position, handle and weight should all be spot on though.
My pet hate is ordering a heavy bat from a custom bat maker, and them thinking, yes I can use that extremely dense cleft I have, so instead of getting a big chuck of wood, you get a thin highly concaved bat that just looks so small but still weighs 3lb plus.!
Stop discriminating against the heavy bat users! Make us big big bats.
-
@smilley792 Assuming it's Reserve grade as mentioned in the topic, that's NZD 750 (335+ GBP). For that price, surely you have the right to expect a blemish free face
-
I believe Laver does show you few clefts first and then you can choose. They did show me around the 6 signature clefts last year and I chose two out of those.
-
Awesome willow, all the best to score plenty of runs with it.
