After having a few excellent custom bats from the board (H4L Fire/Devil) Laverwoods and a more recent Phantom Dark Edition.Came across a custom bat maker from India (Bangalore) and gave it a shot.
Bat 1 is 2lb 4 oz extremely light weight (40 mm edges,2-3mm concaved)
Bat 2 is slightly long blade at 2lbs 9 oz
Typical sub continent styles with lower middle sweet spots. Both bats are machine knocked and the ping is excellent. The pick up on the lighter bat is a dream. However the cosmetic appearance of the lighter bat could have been better for a PRO edition bat.
Dealt with Ravi who was very prompt , passionate and knowledgeable. Was a pleasant experience overall. Also ordered two sets of gloves which i believe are sourced from SG.

Is it me or is the Phoenix on the left narrower?

That 2lb 4oz bat would be even lighter without those "shocking stickers" :o
-
How much does the Phantom weigh? That looks an impressive piece of wood.

The lighter one probably falls somewhere between a harrow and full size bat.

Was not a big fan of the gaudy stickers , should have gone with the blank bats instead :-[
The Phantom on the other hand had the best decals in my view . The Phantom weighed 2lb 9oz and came in pre knocked from IJC but will probably still need a few net sessions.

Is it me or do they look really dark? Have you oiled them or are they all heartwood?
-
Three coats of oiling before they were machine knocked.

Willow looks bit dark compared to the Phantom bat. Oiled multiple coats ?? For a Pro-Blade i should say Phoenix have done a poor job with the stickers. Graphic/Art-work needs a lot more work and they could have reduced the sticker foot print on the back/playing face of the bat.
Keeping stickers aside, the willow and grains look good on them. Let us know how it performs in a match ...

Yeah..I think Phoenix needs work on their graphics. Wood looks dark which is a non-issue for me. It all gets down to how it performs. Keep us posted.

Can you please share contact of Mr. Ravi? Since in Bangalore would like to check out his custom bats.

The ping is excellent on both the bats and the lighter one picks up like a dream. The 2.9 is tad bottom heavy but has impressive ping. Cant wait for the matches start in a month. Will keep you posted.

How did you find him and how about ordering?

The 2'4 bat seems to be the much sought after low density willow. Would have made a proper monster if they had made a 2'9 - 2'10 bat out of it :o

the above two pictures are of the pro blade.
here is the review:
i got this bat here from india and i hand picked it from ravi who is a great chap and very helpful. he has bats in 3 grades which are pro, grade 1 and 2.
phonex pro blade:
edge size: 44 mm
spine: 65mm
toe thickness: 22 mm
concaving: minimal and has a duck bill toe to help pick up
weight: 2.11 oz
price: 175 quid
phonex grade 2 bat:
edge size: 41mm
spine:64mm
toe thickness: 20mm
concaving:minamal and has duck bill toe
weight:2.9oz
price: 75 quid
as you can see from the above pictures the pro blade has 28 straight and evenly spaced grains and though there is heart wood which i like it on the right handers edge. when i went to hand pick the bat it wasnt easy as there were so many options and i stumbled upon this one just for the look of the grains but when i tapped it off the mallet it was like a spring board. i have quite a few bats from big companies but for me this bats taps the best. i was surprised to see a bat of that size in that weight and i can assure you its not overdried as i have been using it for long and its my match bat. i now own 4 bats from phoenix cricket and i cant recommend them more highly.they are great value for money and even the grade 2 just pings like trampoline proving no. of grains isnt the accurate measure of the performance of the bat.finally instead of spending hefty amound on sticker companies and big reputed companies, i think we should try some of these local talent coz u might be pleasantly surprised.
i found out bout phoenix cricket on fb and i contacted Ravi who was very quick with a reply and knowledgeable too bout the game. he helped me with my requirements and within few days i was headed to his home in bangalore where he has this lovely stock of cricket bats. i rate this guy very highly and you cannot go wrong with him in quality.
