Great video about an 80 year old cricketer, (not sure if I've copied the link correctly)
-
Loved it... wanted the video to not end. Keep going Mr. Geoff.
-
How good is that!
Nowt to do wi what's on telly, it's that will to want to carry on and compete, to not sit still, never give up.
My new hero young sir
And how good did that wicket look! Especially against them pie chuckers

Geoff plays for our 2nd XI (The Retreat) on a Wednesday night. I think he also plays Saturdays too.
However he's not the only 80 year old cricketer I played with last season. On a couple of Saturdays when there wasn't a game for my team, I instead turned out for Green Hammerton and on the second occasion, it was the 80th birthday of a chap called Arthur. He took a couple of wickets, a catch and probably would have got some runs too had not an enormous thunderstorum just after tea left most of the outfield underwater.

Just sent this to my wife so she knows what she has to look forward to.
Great vid that.
-
That is a brilliant video
What a man
-
I could still have a few ore seasons left then.

Respect

Great video, keep playing Geoff ! We have a 78 year old guy still paying at my club, no reason to stop playing.

Watched the video and good luck to him but the realality is he's a rarity i think a lot depends on your lifestyle in your younger years and the job you do know guys in there 50s and there cricket days have ended they work in construction /building trades and knees and wrists are shot.

I can echo this, I'm forty five and tbh I'm shot to pieces, football and work being the main contributors to an ailing body.

Your right if you want a long cricket career you can't have a long football one

Had a couple to guys that played for my old side in Kent that I played for since I was 10. One was a slow spin bowler had 2500+ club wickets and was playing the sat leage side last season as 81 and still picking up 25 wickets in a season, serious skill level for his age. The other retired at 78 due to his eye sight. Was a opening bowler up until 60odd and had pace then had 2700 club wickets and 10000 runs.
How many club players can claim over 2500 wickets and over 10000 runs.
Serious respect, perks ally don't plan on retiring ever lol

Yep tore my ACL in my 30s reconstruction wasn't an option then, I'm a young at heart 58 and came to cricket late, but I'm going to keep playing until I physically can't or until they don't pick me!

Your English is just fine. You used the the correct turn of phrase.
-
Got a couple going this way at my club
-
How do you turn a phrase? Haha. I agree though surely if we refer to them as a grounds keeper then they keep grounds. Your English made perfect sense to me mate :)

I played a Cross Arrows game at Lords a few years ago to celebrate 100th year anniversary. Speaking to the keeper after the game, he mentioned that he had played a game against us to celebrate our 50th anniversary. He had great hands even at his age. He even chirped me when I miss hit a four (it just cleared mid off), saying 'the bat must be pretty special to get away with that!'
Very nice man, with a good sense of humour, and great hands behind the stumps. I wonder if he is still playing.
