Hi All,
Just ordered a couple of Kookaburra Instinct 500s on Amazon for £67.
I'm hedging my bets slightly, as might keep one, both or neither!
Seems like a good deal - I'll post pics on here when they arrive tomorrow.
Currently have a decent GM Mogul, so looking for something different as an option/spare. Anyone tried an Instinct on here?
Thanks
Ben

At that price aslong as they arent planks its not a bad deal for a net/wet weather bat, especially when theyre retailing on other sites for £180+

Yep - that's what I thought too. Seems an OK bat for a good price.
-
Im a little more sceptical of shop bought bats (well brands like sports direct anyway) as ive actually seen soemone pull a stickered face of a bat before. Think youre onto a steal though, if i hadn't of got a new b3 id be all over this too!

not bad. Even shipping to USA is only 13gbp. good deal.
-
Weirdly the 300 model is more expensive
-
tempting!
-
£44 on SD's site but interestingly they note sizes available as being 5,6, Harrow and Small Mens but list other bat sizes as Short Handle.
-
Small Mens is the size between Harrow and SH - like an Academy bat.
-
Wouldnt trust SD as far as i can throw Mike Ashley! Stickered bats 😳

You can get stickered bats from pro direct plus many others places.
It's the manufacturers that make them, not sports direct(well apart from the slaz ones)
-
Ahh ive never seen them, saying that ive never bothered to look for them.

I bought an nb from pro direct described as grade 3 and had a grain sheet on it.
I believe some have bought some ss bats from online stockists that were both grain sheeted and painted.

I get its out love for a lovely looking bat thats caused it to happen but cant help to think how many people have thought theyre getting inch perfect grains at a reduced price.

I don't think anybody fussy about their bats is buying the cheap models with the sheets on anyway... Must just be cheaper than the old painted fabric stuff from kids bats back in the day.

Ofcourse the bat aficionados wouldnt, however those less informed like a parent with no cricketing history, would surely fall for this sort of thing. £40+ is alot to some people and to be sold a plank with stickers on is low even for SD

I bought one of these a while back when they were £67 earlier in the year - ended up being a screamer. Zero concaving, picks up like a dream and has about 15 straight grains on it.
Still don't understand how it was graded a 500!
-
Definitely worth a punt with free returns.
price is £75 now

I can't believe what I have just seen RE: Stickered Bats.
Surely anyone involved in the game of cricket enough to be buying a cricket bat can tell the difference between wood and a sticker that looks like wood!!!!
What on earth???
-
@KarlPennington - loads of the big companies do it, by applying a fake grain sheet it makes the bat more cosmetically appealing to the general public than having wood covered in knots etc.
Realistically it will have little, if any, impact on the performance, it's just their to fool convince the general non-badger public into buying the garbage quality willow from sports direct.

I think its more aimed at Mum and Dad buying little jimmy a bat, it looks good it must be good, right?!

Well they've arrived!
One is 2lb 9oz and the other is 2lb 8oz. Pick-up for both is very light and the response off the ball is excellent - way better than what I was expecting.
They both have 6 clean grains and there's little between the two to choose from. I'd say they have a bigger middle than my GM Mogul LE.
If I was being very picky, the heavier one has the best "ping" but the light one is the better looker, as it is a completely clean cleft with no colour on the back.
Decisions decisions! Not sure which to keep and which to sell...
Wanted to upload some photos, but it's not working, so I'll try and post a link to them later.
-
Sounds like youve got yourself a winner then!

I've put the heavier one on eBay, but have shown photos of both:

Hope it goes to a good home, as I don't really want to part with it!!

Jeg holder meg til norsk fremover.

I'll give you what you paid for it ;)
-
@SteffanLangholz - as long as you live near Struer!
-
The bat's still on eBay - just trying to recoup what I paid for it plus postage/fees. Rather it went to somebody rather than back to Amazon, although I think they've still got one in stock?
-

Not quite. But Denmark is small. I might need you to bring a proper mallet as well then.
-
Millet Sports have these at £75 with SAVE20 code making it £60 described as short handle medium weight delivery is just shy of £4.
-
saw that, if they are anything like these sticks then that is a great deal
-
Firstly, thanks for posting about this deal. I checked today the price was £75 and Amazon has £10 off promo deal going on just for today as a thank you.
So I went ahead and ordered it for £65 but I check now and shockingly the price is £60 ??? :o :o
I have ordered another two (will miss out on the £10 off promo deal though) and will refuse the delivery of first one of £65.
You guys can get the bat for £50 with the promo code, the code ends today.
I hardly post on the forum but thought this may help some of you.
-
Great deal, my old boy needs a new bat but seeing the two listed earlier at 2lb8oz put him off, shame as any excuse to get a new bat through the door 😂

Ebay is littered with these Instincts now lol
-
Definitely worth the money, bought one myself as I'm not good enough to justify spending loads of money on a bat. Mine to has 6 straight and evenly spaced grains and a lovely ping. I cant wait to take it for a spin in the nets

Whats the promo code for the deal
The £10 off deal was only for one day. That's gone now.
I decided not to get mine in the end that were ordered as I already have 2 brand new bats waiting to be used and 1 old bat fully repaired.
I'm learning to resist on these tempting offers and not go bankrupt buying bats that will hardly ever be used.
2 new bats should be more than enough for me this season, if I do buy another it will be in heavy weight/fuller profile.
If you like this sort of weight/shape or want a spare bat it is still a great price at £60 for the bat.

I took a punt on a couple of these, should be delivered today.
